Always a great experience at our favorite Winchell’s! Didn’t have glazed sour cream today ( ) but we had a maple and chocolate as consolation, plus glazed raspberry filled. Winchell’s doughnuts are the BEST.

I didn’t get to even try a doughnut—the worker wouldn’t let me in. The door was locked when I arrived around 5:45 PM. The open sign was lit, so I decided to wait. I thought maybe the worker might be using the restroom or taking a quick break. After about ten minutes, I saw someone in the back with EarPods talking. I decided to continue waiting outside. I know a lot of establishments are short-staffed right now, and maybe the guy had to take an important call. As someone visiting San Diego, I wanted to patron a local business. Another five or so minutes go by, and I’m finally able to get the worker’s attention. He signals back making it clear he won’t let me in. I take a picture of the doughnuts and leave.
I can absolutely understand needing to close a 24hr establishment for a couple of minutes or even an hour or two—just communicate this with potential customers. Turn off your “open” sign and put a note on the door to the likes of “Reopening at 8 PM” or “We’re closed for the day. Sorry for the inconvenience.” It’s not a good practice to have people waiting outside your business and just shoo them off instead of serving them.

I definitely need a Winchell’s near me.
This is a great spot for early morning breakfast and coffee, a donut run for the kids or a late night sandwich.
I’ve stopped here daily while staying across from this Winchells. The staff is kind and quick with orders. The bagels and donuts are fresh and stock is consistently changed.

Fresh doughnuts made all day long, not just in the morning and dried up by closing. Fresh and yummy. Of course, they’re not for me, I buy them for my 93 year old mother…yeah…right.

Fresh donuts, great smoothies, fresh pressed juices and huge breakfast croissants. Open 24 hours so anytime is a good time for donuts.

We always try and eat @ Winchell’s when were on the West Coast. The Donuts are always fresh and the coffee is hot. Winchell’s is a must stop to cure your sweat tooth or to get a hot cup of joe

Came here twice this week to the “open 24 hours” donut shop. Open signs lit, door locked, nobody around. No note, no closed until…, nothing.
