Best Krispy Kreme Donuts to Try
29. Chocolate Iced Glazed with Sprinkles
This donut says TREAT in great big letters! The combination of chocolate icing and rainbow sprinkles is a winner with little kids – and big ones. And it’s so successful that you can buy this donut in both full sized and mini versions.
The rainbow sprinkles don’t add much to the flavor – but who cares? The fluffy donut and chocolate topping really doesn’t need anything else.
28. Glazed Blueberry Cake
This is a donut that’s sometimes overlooked on the Krispy Kreme menu. But that would be a shame, because blueberries and donuts are a pairing that work beautifully together.
The dough contains blueberries too, giving it extra interest visually as well as in terms of the flavor. And the uneven cake surface provides lots of lumps and bumps for the glaze to gather. Delicious!
27. Glazed Cinnamon
The glazed cinnamon is many people’s go-to donut. The combination of warm cinnamon spice and sweet glaze is a true classic.
The donut here is yeast-raised, giving it a traditional look and feel. It’s a donut that’s all about nostalgia – and timeless flavors.
26. Glazed Cruller
The French cruller is without doubt an attractive donut, with its pretty, swirling contours. And there’s something about the texture of all those ridges that works beautifully with the rich cake donut. Bite in, and you’ll get a satisfying mixture of light crispness outside and fluffy softness inside.
And everything is topped in the sweet Krispy Kreme glaze. This one is deservedly labeled a classic.
25. Double Dark Chocolate
Donut lovers looking for an intense chocolate hit should check out the Double Dark Chocolate.
It’s chocolate all the way here – from the frosting and drizzle to the rich chocolate filling. The darkness stops it from being sickly without ever becoming bitter.
This is a decadent and delicious donut, perfect for chocoholics.
24. Powdered with Strawberry Kreme
If you’re looking for a sweetly fruity donut, the Powdered with Strawberry Kreme is a good option.
The strawberry filling may be a little artificial for some – but if you love strawberry candy, you’ll love this. Add in the powdered sugar coating, and this is perfect for donut lovers with an extra sweet tooth.
23. Powdered with Lemon Kreme
Lemon is one of our favorite ever donut flavors. Its tangy sweetness is a perfect complement to the fluffy deliciousness of a Krispy Kreme. And powdered sugar provides the ideal balance to the citrus zing.
As a filled donut, you may occasionally get a mouthful without the kreme filling. For us, that just heightens the anticipation! And it makes the taste explosion when you get a generous dollop of filling so much better!
22. Powdered Cinnamon Cake
There’s not much that compares with a classic cake donut. And the Krispy Kreme version is just the right texture and sweetness.
It comes in a number of different varieties, but powdered cinnamon is one of our favorites. The light, sweet flavor is a great choice to satisfy a donut craving at any time of the day.
21. New York Cheesecake
Celebrate a signature flavor of the Big Apple with a New York Cheesecake donut. It’s filled with rich, sweet cheesecake mix and topped with cream cheese icing and Graham crackers.
The contrast between the soft doughnut, creamy filling and crunchy topping is the stuff of donut dreams. Wash it down with some top notch coffee for the full NYC experience.
20. Dulce de Leche
If you’ve got a seriously sweet tooth, the Dulce de Leche donut might just satisfy it.
It’s filled with rich, sweet and creamy dulce de leche. And if that wasn’t enough, it’s drenched in powdered sugar.
For some, the sweetness will be too much. But if you’re in need of a sugar rush, you won’t go wrong with this one.
19. Glazed Sour Cream
First things first: there’s no actual sour cream in a Krispy Kreme Glazed Sour Cream donut. But the flavorings still offer a fresh and zingy taste that works beautifully paired with the classic sweet glaze.
The cake donut is moist and satisfying too. And the whole ensemble is a great choice when you want something less full-on than chocolate or peanut butter.
18. Glazed Chocolate Cake
For many traditionalists, cake donuts are amongst the finest pastries in any donut shop. And Krispy Kreme’s Glazed Chocolate Cake rates among the best of the best.
The combination of chocolate and glaze is rich and moist. And there’s a satisfying chocolate hit with every mouthful.
If you can’t decide between cake and donut, don’t sweat it. With this option, you can have both.
17. Oreo Cookies and Kreme
Oreos, just like donuts, are peak comfort food. So when you put the two together, you’re in for something special.
The Krispy Kreme version comes with a white kreme filling and a drizzle of white icing. A topping of Oreo pieces sits on a base of chocolate icing. Bite into it, and the contrast between fluffy dough and crunchy Oreos is a real winner.
16. Glazed Lemon Filled
If you’re looking for a sweet yet tangy donut, the glazed lemon filled could be the perfect choice. The filling here is a great balance between sweet and tart, and it complements the glaze perfectly.
The only issue with this otherwise excellent donut, is that the filling levels do vary. Strike it lucky with a generous dollop of lemon though, and you’ll have to go a long way to beat it.
15. Chocolate Iced, Raspberry Filled
Chocolate and raspberry are always a winning dessert combination. Put them together in a donut, and the result is predictably delicious.
The raspberry jelly filling is sweet yet tangy, and contrasts perfectly with the smooth chocolate icing. The red swirl on top looks pretty too.
14. Chocolate Iced with Custard Filling
The next two spaces in our chart go to filled chocolate iced donuts. Whether custard should come before kreme or vice versa is a question that divides nations and families. But for us custard places second.
This is still an excellent donut. The combination of creamy milk chocolate and thick custard is – let’s face it – divine. And it looks identical to our next contender …
13. Chocolate Iced with Kreme Filling
Ah yes, the chocolate iced with kreme filling. The chocolate is every bit as rich and satisfying. But there’s something about that white kreme filling that just gives it the edge for us.
After all, where would Krispy Kreme be without the kreme?
12. Reese’s Classic Donut
Like Krispy Kreme, Reese’s is an American institution. Pair the two together, and you have a recipe for donut heaven.
It’s filled with the peanut butter kreme for which Reese’s Cups are famous. The donut is then topped with Hershey’s chocolate icing and sprinkled with mini peanut butter chips. Finally, there’s a drizzle of chocolate and peanut butter sauce.
The contrast between peanut butter and chocolate looks great and tastes even better. This won’t be an option for those with a nut allergy, of course. But for the rest of us, it’s a darned fine donut.
11. Original Filled Original Kreme
Who doesn’t love cream filled donuts? Not us, that’s for sure!
The Original Filled Original Kreme is an icon amongst Krispy Kreme donuts. The glazed exterior with three lines of white icing drizzle is simple yet unmistakeable. And when you bite into it, you encounter the white kreme filling that’s part of the classic Krispy Kreme experience.
10. Glazed Raspberry Filled
For many people, the glazed raspberry filled is the king of the filled donuts. There’s something about that combination of sweet glaze and tart raspberry jelly that just hits the spot.
Personally, we also love the lucky dip nature of the filled donut. Yes, there’ll be a jammy spot on the outside to give you a clue. But you’ll never quite know where the filling will be deepest until you bite in. It adds an extra frisson to the entire donut experience that we wouldn’t be without!
9. Chocolate Glazed
The rich dark glaze of the chocolate coating will have you salivating before this donut is halfway to your mouth! Bite into it and you’ll be rewarded with gentle resistance before you reach the light, fluffy dough.
Surprisingly, this classic donut isn’t available all the time. Search it out on Chocolate Glaze Fridays in participating shops. Believe us, it’s worth the effort.
8. Maple Iced Glazed
The maple frosting on the Krispy Kreme donut doesn’t contain real maple syrup. The flavoring here is artificial – but somehow, it still tastes great.
The consistency of the glaze, the sweet fluffiness of the dough – everything here works together beautifully. And that makes the maple iced glazed one of Krispy Kreme’s most consistently popular donuts.
7. Cake Batter
There’s nothing subtle about the cake batter donut – and that’s just the way we like it! It’s topped in bright yellow frosting with rainbow confetti sprinkles. A plate of them looks fantastic at parties.
If the first bite is with the eye, the second bite is even better. Sink your teeth into the delicious cake batter kreme and enjoy the moment.
6. Glazed Chocolate Cake Donut Holes
The chocolate cake donut is a traditional favorite that’s never gone out of fashion. And with Krispy Kreme, you can enjoy glazed versions of the flavor in the form of donut holes.
Order them by the dozen or half-dozen. They’re perfect for sharing – but why would you want to do that?!
5. Cinnamon Apple Filled
Cinnamon and apple have been a winning combination since your grandmother’s day. And when they’re put together in a filled donut, you can be sure of a taste sensation.
The Krispy Kreme version is dredged in cinnamon sugar to add an extra level of sweetness to every bite. This is one seriously delicious donut.
4. Strawberry Iced with Sprinkles
There’s a reason Homer Simpson’s donut of choice is big and pink. Strawberry iced donuts are delicious – and they’re even better when they come with sprinkles.
There might not be a Krispy Kreme in Springfield. But if there were, the Strawberry Iced with Sprinkles would be Homer’s go-to donut. And as a cartoon character who really knows his pastries, we’re not about to argue with him.
3. Apple Fritter
A good apple fritter is a fine thing – and Krispy Kreme make a very good apple fitter indeed.
The fruit is tart yet sweet, and chunky enough to give a satisfying hit of flavor. There’s just the right amount of warming cinnamon. And everything is drenched in the delicious Krispy Kreme glaze.
This is a fritter to savor.
2. Original Filled Chocolate Kreme
Taking second place is an original donut that’s withstood the test of time. The Original Filled Chocolate Kreme combines everything we love. Light, fluffy pastry – check. Gently crisp exterior – check. Sweet glaze – check again.
But for some of us, a donut just isn’t a donut without one magic ingredient – chocolate. And for the chocoholics in the audience, this one really has it all. Bite through the glaze into the doughnut and you’re rewarded with a mouthful of chocolate kreme.
It doesn’t get much better than this.
1. Original Glazed
Sometimes there’s no need to mess around with perfection. And that’s the case with Krispy Kreme’s original glazed – original, and many believe, still the best.
They’re so venerated, that Krispy Kreme even have a special light for them, the Hot Light. When it’s switched on at the counter, you know that a fresh batch of original glazed are just emerging. Get them quick – they won’t hang around for long.
The combination of lightly crisp exterior, sweet glaze and soft, fluffy dough is a winner.
