Located inside The Craftivist, Revolution Doughnuts & Coffee provide artisan pastries and beverages. Their donuts are made fresh by hand, using organic flour and seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible.
There’s a good range for all requirements, including vegan, dairy, gluten and egg-free. Flavors include peppermint and white chocolate, fruity sprinkle, and orange and pistachio. There’s a good drinks menu too, including espresso, drip coffee, chai tea latte and hot chocolate.
You can pre-order from 2pm online for pick-up the following day. The shop is open six days a week, staying closed on Mondays. The hours are 7am to 2pm Tuesday to Friday, and 8am to 3pm on the weekends.
4. Hero Doughnuts & Buns

Hero aim to make fresh, simple food very well – and they do just that.

They do a great savory menu too, including loaded hash browns and some seriously big burgers. You can also choose healthier options like salads and yogurt with granola.

Doughnut Dollies make excellent, fresh donuts in a spectacular and ever-changing array of flavors.
Check out the website for the up-to-date menu. At the time of writing, it included options like the Cereal Bowl, a brioche donut topped with cereal milk icing and fruity cereal loops. Or there’s the Birthday Cake, a vanilla cake donut with cream cheese frosting and a house-made vanilla crumb.
As well as full-sized donuts, you can buy minis by the dozen. They come in assorted flavors, so they’re a great way to try something new.
The shop is open every day except Monday for dine in, curbside pick-up and delivery. Note, though, that some of the donuts are available on the weekend only. Opening hours are 7am to 2pm on weekdays and 8am to 3pm on the weekend.

You can find Five Daughters Bakery in Ponce City Market – and it’s well worth checking it out. The donuts here aren’t the cheapest or the biggest. But the quality is a cut above the average pastry.
They’re made fresh by hand every day. And the star of the show is the “100 layer”, a croissant donut with a light and airy texture. It comes in seven different flavors available all year round, including triple raspberry, chocolate sea salt, vanilla cream and maple glaze.
You can also find the 100 layer in a range of monthly specials. At the time of writing, these included the Summer Berry Crisp, Birthday Cake Purist and Churro Crunch.
The shop is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 8pm on weekends. You can’t dine in, but curbside pick-up and delivery are both available.
7. Vegan Dream Doughnuts

Vegans in search of a cracking donut should check out Vegan Dream Donuts on Lee Street. They’re great for those with a gluten intolerance too, as all the donuts are gluten free. And because they’re sweetened with coconut sugar, agave and maple syrup, they’re sugar free too.
They’re made fresh daily, and there are both donuts and donut holes. Flavors rotate, so there’s always something new to try. Fan favorites include the banana caramel, which includes mashed banana in the dough, and the powdered cinnamon.

Atlanta Donuts is the Atlanta-based outlet of franchise operation Daylight Donuts. Like the other Daylight stores, it’s independently owned and run. And it offers some seriously good donuts.
They’re large, generously filled, light, fluffy and fresh. Customers rave about the blueberry cake donut and apple fritter, but the range goes much wider. And there’s a great selection of breakfast sandwiches too.
Customer service gets top marks, and the prices are very reasonable. The store is open from 5am to 3pm, seven days a week.

Find DaVinci’s Donuts in Lennox Square and check out their range of delicious cake-style donuts. They’re light and tender, with an exterior that’s slightly crunchy. And they’ve won local awards for their deliciousness.
They’re not the biggest donut, designed to be enjoyed guilt-free and without leaving you bloated. They’re so fresh you can see them being made. And the toppings are added individually at the counter. Top flavors include French toast, salted caramel, maple bacon and strawberry.

The customer service gets good reviews, and the interior of the shop looks great. At the moment, though, it’s open for restricted hours. Order takeout or get delivery between 6pm and 10.30pm on Thursdays only.

Like Ray’s, Sarah Donuts sits just outside the boundaries of Atlanta in Decatur. But it’s well worth making the journey to sample their delicious donuts.
Their huge range includes offerings like chocolate, cinnamon and plain twists, blueberry, glazed and chocolate cake donuts, and lemon, strawberry and raspberry filled donuts. There are donut holes too, plus a small but tasty range of breakfast sandwiches.
The small chain has seven branches across Georgia. The Decatur outlet is open every day except Sunday, from 5.30am to 2pm.
