History of Pinkbox Doughnut Shops
The first Pinkbox opened in 2012 in Las Vegas, NV, it wasn’t long before it became a topic of conversation. People started lining up to get in and check it out.
In 2018, Pinkbox was purchased by Stephen and Judith Siegel. Immediately, they rebranded the store, creating the iconic Pinkbox atmosphere that customers love. The interior is almost entirely pink, with striped floors and sprinkles painted on the walls–like a giant donut box!
Full of ambition, Siegel opened a few more Las Vegas locations, and 10 to 13 more are planned for 2021 and 2022. Some will be located out of state, in places like Utah, Arizona, and California.
And who knows? Maybe someday it’ll produce national chains, with shops in the Midwest, like in Minnesota, and in the east, like in New York City.
Why Do Doughnuts Come in Pink Boxes?
Generally, it is believed that pink boxes were inspired by the classic pink doughnut box from the 1970s, when a Cambodian refugee named Ted Ngoy came to California to start a new life. In the process, he passed his good fortune on to others by spreading the love of pink boxes to other refugees in the area. This Cambodian doughnut shop owner taught Cambodian immigrants to run their own small businesses, too.
Perhaps that’s where Pinkbox got the spark of their idea!
Pink Box Doughnut Shops
These doughnut shops are famous for their delicious pink boxes of donuts, which are filled with all sorts of yummy twists and chocolate goodness. And if that’s not enough for you, they also have a wide variety of other doughnuts to choose from… 75 to 80 donuts, to be exact! They actually have around 100 donuts on the roster, though the basic 75 are what you’ll find in the store each day.
So if you’re looking for funny donuts called the Flaming Red Head or Pinky, or if you love supporting small businesses, you’ll enjoy all that Pinkbox has to offer.
