The Salty Reviews

“oh my goodness, is this cafe/donut shop for real or am I dreaming?” That was my reaction the first time I went to Salty. Donuts so yummy you can’t imagine; coffee drinks so good it’s unbelievable. I’m not even kidding. Cafe is designed so beautifully, with wonderful furniture and vibe; moreover, there are many outdoor seats available. Parking is a little challenging. You should definitely try their Cinnamon Cereal Milk Latte & Horchata Donut.

Burcu Duran

Hands down one of the best donuts I’ve ever had! These donuts are on the big side, the dough is thick and good quality. The frosting doesn’t put you in a sugar coma, it’s tastefully sweet. We had the traditional glazed and pumpkin spice cookie butter, and both were so good. They had very unique flavors such as prickly pear margarita, tiramisu etc. that I’d like try next time.

I can not praise this place enough. The selection in donuts was delicious. I ate the horchata donut and was beyond delicious. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I asked for extra cream in my iced coffee and they were kinda to add some and ice.

We enjoyed our visit to Salty. Unfortunately we were there late in the afternoon so couldn’t try all of the donuts for the day. However we did try quite a few..my personal favorite was the flan donut. My daughter enjoyed the lemon meringue donut. I also had the oatmilk vanilla latte that was pretty good.

This place is very popular! There’s a long line and the reviews of great. Hands down my favorite donut is a Dragon + Passion fruit. Amazing flavor! We thought the Horchata was going to be our favorite, but it was just okay. The meringue on top gets pretty sticky and the flavor wasn’t what we expected. The reviews for raving about this one, but definitely not one of our favorites. The Prickly Pear margarita donut was pretty good too while the corn flake donut was okay. The coffees were okay. I ordered the cinnamon toast crunch coffee, which I would not order again. It actually had kind of a salty frothy taste I didn’t enjoy. My wife loved her latte. Overall a pretty cool, trendy place although very pricey. Make sure you know what to expect before you go in or you’ll walk out having spent $50 easily. I’ll reiterate the dragon + passion fruit donut is amazing!

You can always tell if a donut place is good by the quality of its glazed donut and this was yummy! The donut wasn’t too sweet and was a great size for the cost. I actually ended up getting a second one before leaving. Loved the vibe inside too! I will definitely visit again when I’m back in Austin. A local told me that I should have tried the Brown Butter Salt Cake. Next time!

I expected tiny overpriced donuts. But they are huge, Congress Avenue priced donuts, ample inside seating area, swag, and cheerful staff. I bought 2 thinking I could eat both. One iced chocolate cake filled me. Saved yummy pumpkin for dessert 2 nights later. WAY better than Voodoo in taste.

The Salty Donut serves scrumptious donuts and tremendous coffee in South Congress. The sweet potatoe donut is to die for. The Cappuccino is well balanced. The staff matches the ambience of the location, very relaxing and inviting. While the dining area is an open concept it is small with limited seating. Definitely a morning location when visiting south congress.

Fresh delicious donuts and a good matcha latte in a beautiful airy space. I recommend the cookies and cream donut. Prickly pear was overpowering in taste for me.

Liked my first experience here and I’ll be back.

This is now our favorite donut spot. Such insane flavors and it tastes amazing, we were obsessed with blue star in Portland and nomads in San Diego and haven’t been able to find anything in Austin that compares UNTIL NOW!! The horchata is my number one favorite !! The dragon passion fruit and prickly pear tie for second place and if you like simple things, their glaze is one of the best I’ve had yet. Have been twice already over the opening weekend. You won’t be let down, Can’t wait to spend my cheat calories here!!
