Good ice cream! They only have the standard ice cream flavors but lots of topping selections and great sundaes and milkshakes! You’re able to get donuts inside here too from Just Fine Donuts. There are a few benches outside to sit on, however, Del Rey is a cute neighborhood to walk around in with some ice cream.

This review is strictly for the baked goods—which are amazing!! They dish out some pretty good Vegan donuts (you wouldn’t be able to tell they were vegan, trust me). The non-vegan donuts are great too, but the best item they sell is their Apple Fritters (insert drool face). These sell out pretty quickly over the weekend so get there early if you want one or three!

They get pretty busy during the weekend and weeknights as most people I think come for their ice cream which I hear is pretty good.

And for the furry customers, they even make ice cream cups for pups.

If you’re in the Del Ray area, I highly suggest you swing by the DG and treat yourself!

Love the vegan ice cream! And of course the vegan donuts right next to it at the Just Fine Donuts counter inside the Dairy Godmother. Service is excellent. My only reason for four stars instead of five is because there’s usually only one vegan ice cream flavor.

First time visiting, thr root beer was great and I choose the daily special..lemon cookie custard and it was great as well. I look forward to trying more and the donuts.

While the staff was pleasant, it’s hard to consider this a turtle sundae. For $8, I purchased vanilla ice cream as the toppings were severely lacking. Thank goodness I got cookies.

Pricey for serving size. 2 scoops for $5. Tiny ice cream scooper. Tried snicker doodle and ginger cookies. Honestly were just ok. Apple fritter looked good but didn’t try. Next time I’d get more for my money and buy a pint for $8 instead of single tiny scoops.

-Del Ray must do
-fav flavor is peppermint stick
-puppy loves the puppy pops

The famous Del Ray frozen custard–what else can you say…there’s a reason the line often stretches to the back of the store (or outside down the block for 2021). My family always checks the flavor of the day for our favorites. My personal favorite is peppermint stick, but there are always creative flavor combinations, and of course the tried and true vanilla and chocolate custard, and always a nice selection of cool sorbet combinations like “lemon lavender”. Dog owners love that they can get something for the dog too, ours loves the pumpkin flavored puppy pop!

Authentic Wisconsin custard! Love that they have vegan options too. Only thing I wish is that they had more custard flavors.

Best custard in the area! Sorbets are always excellent too: smooth (not icy) and great flavors. They also offer custard sandwiches and assorted cookies.

So me and Dani Price decided to do something the other day after we indulged ourselves with those delicious biscuits. We walked right across Mt. Vernon street and got some desert The Dairy Godmother !! We couldn’t resist, after looking at their menu, and judging their foot traffic…we went in. Their sorbet menu in and of itself is vast and tempting with flavors like Thai coconut, pomegranate lemon (pictured), apple snow (with lemon and white wine), honeydew melon, and Santa Rosa Plum…I wanted to try them ALL…just based on their alluring names. If you’re a marshmallow fan, they make their own under the name “Exotica treats”, which come in different colors and flavors. This place has it all…sundaes, splits, ice cream, shakes, and array of specialty soft drinks, soft serve custard, a myriad of cookies, muffins, and other baked goods. So I tried their item called a Meerwasser (two scoops of sorbet with a ginger beer-pictured $6.25). I had no idea that this concoction had a name…I’ve been mixing “Meerwasser’s” since I was a child!! The lemon pomegranate sorbet mixed with spice of the ginger beer was a HIT and it was refreshing!! I just wanted larger scoops for the price tag. My partner got a coffee shake (pictured one size $5.25), and when she let me taste it…I immediately went back in and got a shake for myself called a black n white which was vanilla ice cream with chocolate fudge on top (that I didn’t take a picture of because I crushed it). We also got a large cookie called flat almond cookie that i made a mistake in calling it a “Tuile” cookie. It was ok. Located at 2310 Mt. Vernon Ave., Alexandria Virginia their customer service was standard, and parking was metered. Overall I’d go back. That’s it. **This establishment is Covid compliant** #desert #dairygodmother #bigschlimsreviews #delicious #shakes #bakedgoods #alexandriava #foodie #goodeats #funfood #deliciousfood #food #marshmellow #sundaes #icecream #cones
