Cash only. Has indoor seating. Prices are slightly on the higher end – Talor ham, egg, & cheese on a bagel is $7.25 but it was good. They don’t have a huge selection of bagels nor do they make the bagels, but my sandwich was good – fluffy eggs, not oily Taylor ham. They have a bunch of other Portuguese pastries I’ll have to come back for.

I’ve been going here since I was a kid but only recently rediscovered this bakery because I want bakery made donuts. So good, everything is so good. Can’t go wrong with anything I get here. I would love to post pictures but I eat everything before I realize I didn’t take a picture yet.

This place is awesome. The kitchen is authentic and there’s plenty of choices to eat for breakfast or lunch or just some sweets/desserts.
The owner was a wholesome and friendly person who introduced us to all of his goods he is selling.
We drank coffee and tried eating some empanadas as well as a Butterroll and some omelette, which were super tasty.
I definitely recommend this place!

Being a Customer for 20 years!! And everything is unbelievable delicious. Since I moved to another state, I still drive 4h to only go buy Empanadas here and take it to my friends because they have never try something this good!

Save any expectations for the decor for the food instead – it’s absolutely worth it. Their Portuguese baked goods are made perfectly and one of the best in a neighborhood full of them: their dough fresh, moist, densely rich, and delicious. Throw in one of their perfectly made custard pies and even better shrimp empanada, and you won’t regret it

This place deserves every 5-star review it gets. The empanadas are famous for a reason–they are GOOD. Don’t miss out. If you’re around, get food from here. CASH ONLY though, be prepared or you’ll have to use the little ATM and pay the fees.

The food is wonderful and beautifully presented. A great place to practice your Spanish and Portuguese as both the servers and customers will patiently listen to you destroy their language, then encouragingly offer you corrections in pronunciation and grammar…lol

This is THEEE best bakery in Newark…They make everything on location and the quality of food is impeccable. I would not go anywhere else for an empanada. They open early which is great… they get busy quickly but the employees move quickly to help everyone. If you have any questions the Manager is always there to help

This “sonhos” reminds me of Choux pastry, deep fried rather than baked like Cream Puff, so it is more moist but still light, and very good! 2 of us had 1 each but could not resist one moreIt was Saturday morning, close to noon, local people having their breakfast, its small but nice local place! Will be back for more sonhos and try other things on the menu.
