Mochinut – Eagle Rock Reviews

Was pleasantly surprised with these while visiting Eagle Rock as they’re harder to find in San Antonio. They brought a nice mix of a dozen different Mochinut’s. The dozen consisted of Thai tea, Churro, Strawberry, Oh’s cereal, Black Sesame Seed, and Hot Chocolate. All were very fresh and flavorful. Even though each had its own unique flavor and toppings, the base dough was very good. Sometimes when it comes to flavored donuts, there’s a bad base that’s covered up by all the toppings. However, these mochinuts would’ve been great plain. Hard to say which was my favorite as all were equally as good. The variety of Mochinut’s and the shape they’re made were perfect for sharing and trying different flavors. Will definitely come back to try more flavors next time.

Excellent service in serving fresh n tasty mochi-based donut, Mochinut, Eagle Rock. A must place to get your Mochinut for breakfast, afternoon pick up, dessert or just because, as I do

Showed up at 6:40 on Sunday and they were closed despite saying 7 on google. I’ll happily remove this review when the hours listed are updated

Reply to owner’s comment: totally get supplies can be limited. If this is a regular occurrence it would be great if it were stated that supplies are limited anywhere on your site or google listing especially if the expectation is for people to call ahead

To anyone reading mochinuts are delicious

Welcome to Eagle Rock Mochinut! Soft opening was busy and I waited almost 2 hours from the time I stood in line until I got my donuts but they were worth it. Donuts were good and the cashier and the lady taking temperature were nice! Everyone wore masks, temperature was taken before going in, and only 3 parties were allowed at a time to allow for social distancing. Can’t wait to try their other flavors! $30 for a dozen donuts so a little pricey but they were delicious and not oily.

Everything is SO good here and the staff here is so sweet and hardworking. I live nearby and have been here several times to try the mochinuts (best texture and so many flavors!), drinks (cold brew and brown sugar boba are my favorites), and the HOT DOGS!! Super cheesy, flavorful, and the sauces are the best. They definitely fill the hot dogs more than the other Korean hot dog spots I’ve been to. I’ve had them multiple times to try all the different combinations and FYI my digestion’s been totally fine LOL :). Love to support a local business!

Mochi donut is the titillating product of the happy union between Japanese rice cake (mochi) and American-style doughnuts. This Mochinut is a small and brand new store located in small midsize plaza on Eagle Rock blvd in Eagle Rock section of LA. Yeah, I like supporting small businesses. Staff were friendly and nice. Prices were expensive (e.g., 1/2 dozen is $15). Currently, they only have few mochinut flavors such as Mango, S’mores, Tiramisu, and Black Sesame. They were soft, light sweet, and puffy. I liked it. Parking was easy. Service was fast.
Overall, I enjoyed my mochinut.

Great mochi donut spot in Eagle Rock / Glassell Park! Easy to pick up and delicious, rotating flavors. Also available are Korean Hot Dogs, Boba, and Coffee – didn’t try those during our visit (Jan 2022)

GETTING THERE / PARKING:
Mochinut is located in the corner of a small complex with its own parking lot; it was easy to find a parking spot for our pickup order.

PICKUP:
Masks required to enter and helpful social distances stickers clearly showing how the flow should be once you enter, approach the cashier on the left side, wait on the right side. There is no indoor seating available currently but interior doesn’t feel stuffy at all, there is also a display of the mochinuts available and menus for drinks or hot dogs if you wish.

I showed my pickup order and was handed my box of 3 mochinuts immediately – so quick! Nice and timely, maybe 5 minutes since I entered (waited for one person before me to order).

MOCHINUTS:
Brought the CHOCO CHURRO, STRAWBERRY FUNNEL, and ORIGINAL GLAZED donuts home and ate them immediately! These are made in advance but still had that fresh texture for mochi donuts, an ever so slight crust giving way to a chewy, light interior, and not too sweet. The toppings were not too thick and were in perfect proportion to each of the little mochi donut ring-balls. Best flavored one was the CHOCO CHURRO, lightly dusted with choco-cinnamon-sugar, but all were great, the strawberry funnel with powdered sugar and a tangy strawberry drizzle, and the original just picture perfect with its shiny glaze.

Great experience and would order again!
