Donut Run Reviews

Fantastic Donuts and Great Value!
Our family tradition every time we move is to take our first day at our new duty station and test every donut place in a 10-15 mile radius to find the best one. This place knocks it out of the park! So much better than any place we tried (including some local chains). Perfect raised donuts. Cannot recommend them enough!

Location was formerly Sunrize Donuts. They changed names several years ago, but from what I can tell the donuts are all the same, the décor is the same, and, after the initial changeover, the same employees were working here (though there has been some turnover in the years since).

Good donuts. I especially like their Apple Fritters. Most everything here is fried. Few baked goods. They used to have a sitting area, but removed it during the pandemic and never put it back. They’re the ONLY eatery in Gretna that hasn’t brought back their dining room. I guess they decided they don’t want anyone sitting down in their shop enjoying a donut ever again.

They’re the only donut shop in Gretna (outside of meager gas station selections), so they have a captive audience. I’m not sure if they’d handle a Dunkin’ coming to town.

4% surcharge if paying with a card. They could just factor that into the cost of their donuts (sort of like they do with electric, gas, plumbing, labor, and the rest), but they’d rather nickel and dime the customers with it. They have a whole sob story about how much they have to pay to process credit cards and that’s why they charge a fee, but they still can’t explain why the fee isn’t just built into their pricing like the rest of their expenses. Why is it only eateries that have the audacity to do this? I don’t have to pay a credit card fee when buying products from, for example, a privately-owned boutique. The cost of labor has skyrocketed in the last couple of years. Are they going to add a line item for it and call it a labor surcharge? Can eateries just not wrap their head around the concept of adjusting their pricing to accommodate expenses? Wow. Just wow.

I couldn’t have been more happy with this huge raised donut I bought for my daughter’s 9th birthday. The owner is super nice and easy to work with. The donut itself was bigger than I imagined and cooked perfectly!! So glad I took the short drive to Gretna to try out this place. We will definitely be back!

Great donuts. Way better than krispy cream. Just raised their prices though so that kinda stinks. Still the best donuts outside of lamars Ive had in a while.

Soft, fluffy, and Oh so FULL of flavor. Hands down some of the best doughnuts I’ve ever had. And half the cost of the “big name” shops.

Very good cake-style donuts. Nice people. 1 star off as prices are a bit high as they don’t offer a Baker’s dozen (get 13th donut free when you buy 12) or any discount on buying 12 or more donuts for the family.

Amazing donuts! A lot of varieties, and seasonal items as well. Best donuts I’ve tasted! You won’t be disappointed!

My coworkers love Donut Run over some of the larger chain stores. Family makes sure to frequent as often as we want fresh donuts. Great job.

The only place in Sarpy County…perhaps in metro Omaha…worthy of the title “Best Donuts Ever”. Seriously, reminds me of the neighborhood bakeries when I was a kid…in the last century. Staff is always super friendly too.

lolo

absolutely the freshest donuts. the apple fritter was awesome, coffee was good. great people..too many choices, a good and bad thing , lol
