The Big O Doughnuts Reviews

Oh my God!!! Came in here to warm up while waiting for Vertical Diner to open for breakfast. The sweet lady at the counter recommended the Boston cream and it was so good. I’m like, are you sure this is plant based? Definitely enjoyed it! Very clean, accessible, friendly staff, good value.

Update: went back for maple, regular glazed, and apple fritter. All delicious! Boston cream is still best though when offered.

I went with my husband about 2 months ago just to try out some donuts. The concepts for the flavors are great. The downside of the donuts is that you can taste the fat/grease on them, leaving your mouth filled with light flavor and oil. Not a huge fan of that

I’m spoiled living in Portland, OR regarding vegan and gluten-free options. I was pleased to see a vegan doughnut shop with gluten-free options. The gluten-free cupcake in the picture was delicious. It had a thick confectionery sugar and crumbly cake with a hint of cornmeal. I will send my husband back for more before we head back to Portland 🙂

Recently ordered some gluten free doughnuts which come as cupcakes.as it is hard to form gluten free donuts. I also picked up a dozen. We tried the blueberry, blueberry cheesecake, plain frosted, Bavarian cream, lemon, churro, earl grey, chocolate, apple fritter, pistachio, and maple. All of them were great.

Mmm! Great tasting doughnuts. All vegan, all delicious–and such unique, creative flavors.

My favorites are the chamomile and the earl grey. I can’t wait to go back and try the coffee.

Take a chance on a vegan doughnut and check them out!

Flavors were great with a number of creative offerings — I recommend the blueberry lavender.

The texture left something to be desired. The doughnuts were very bready (they really reminded me of the texture of Dunkin’s doughnuts). I wish they were either yeasted or cake-y. I did hear the Big Os had a better texture (I got the Little Os) so I intend to try one of those in the future.

I really appreciate that they offer small size options and that they’re vegan!

For starters, kudos to this place for being 100% vegan and doing so successfully. I’ve had excellent and terrible vegan donuts before, but most have just been a one-off donut from a shop that is not strictly vegan. I love the texture on the raised donuts here – soft with a little bit of density. The highlight for me was their earl grey donut, which was quite unique and perfectly balanced herbal flavor with sweetness. The jelly donut was a bit overpowering – it could have used less filling. I didn’t try any cake donuts because I’m an idiot, and didn’t realize it until after I left! But their case is mostly filled with raised donuts. Nonetheless, Big O has some of the better vegan donuts I’ve ever had.

I will preface this by saying I love the donuts. They are delicious. But unfortunately I will have to stop going until they get rid of the mask mandate. I don’t travel with my mask anymore because nowhere requires that I wear one. They have disposable masks at the front door and I can’t imagine the waste/garbage that’s created for people that come in here, don’t have one with them and have to use a disposable one for less than 2 minutes to grab a donut. The CDC has even gotten rid of them for travelers, I truly don’t understand why they still require it. I do believe that they have the right to choose if they want customers to wear masks, I unfortunately just can’t shop there until they stop. I can’t support all the waste and garbage they are contributing to.

Super cute place! Lots of crazy interesting donuts to try! Definitely ordered too many ha
Unique and good tastes but some of the donuts felt too bready, the party is in the frosting. Still, worth waiting in the wind (only 2 groups allowed inside at a time due to covid)
Lemon donut was good! My friend liked that and the strawberry lemonade cream filled one, chocolate was good, another friend liked the tea one, and passionfruit was also good
