Scratch Bakeshop Reviews

Scratch Bakeshop has been my go to for all my baked good needs. From my wedding cake, to my anniversary cakes, to custom birthday cakes, baby shower custom cookies for a friend, and all the gluten free goodies in their case, their products are both delicious and appealing to the eye. Bring celiacs, I’ve never been concerned about cross contamination. They are so easy to contact and work with, and their prices are great for the quality of products you receive. I couldn’t recommend them enough!!

I ordered desserts for my sister’s baby shower and they were fantastic. People were raving about the grape pie mini pop tarts. Also, the level of detail on each buttercream succulent on the mini cupcakes blew us away! Adorable cactus

As always everything we had was delicious!

Hands down my favorite bakery of all time (and I’ve traveled many place just for the sake of eating the local food).
So many vegan options that are actually delicious. My dairy-loving grandmother can’t get over how amazing their vegan cakes are. Everyone I’ve ever spoken with is friendly and amenable to whatever requests I have for custom orders and I can get quite creative.
Lots to choose from, but I strongly recommend the vegan chocolate chip cookies and the Scratch Plates.

Run, don’t walk, to Scratch! After eating a Scratch cake and donuts at a friend’s wedding, I knew I had to add Scratch to my list of cake tastings in Roc, and I’m so glad I did. From the moment we reached out to get a to-go tasting (because of covid), their customer service was far better than other wedding bakeries in Roc and the taste isn’t even comparable… I don’t know how other bakeries are still in business when they serve dry cake and curds made with artificial flavoring. Not at Scratch. Moist, flavorful cake with jams/curds made from real fruit. After booking Scratch, we stopped in and tried various flavor combos of cakes and macarons, and we were never disappointed. Eating our wedding cake was such a delightful experience that it gave us some of our favorite candid photos of our special day!

Ordered a chocolate peanut butter cookie dough cake for my sons 4th Birthday and it was absolutely AMAZING! The detail was exactly how I envision it. I did add the dinosaurs myself but the other detail was all scratch. Will definitely be ordering from there again

I’ve had a few cakes made by scratch and they all turned out amazing. I’ve also had some of their cookies/macarons from their case and they are delicious! My bridal shower cake might be my favorite so far. Tasted amazing + looked so pretty!

This is the first time I have ever written a poor review for any small business. However, my recent experience with Scratch Bakery was enough of a concern that I had to share my experience. I ordered a TRADITIONAL Chocolate Frosted Yellow/White birthday cake with Butter Cream frosting and Raspberry jam/Butter Cream frosting between the layers of “cake”. The web site gives 3 choices: Traditional, Vegan and Gluten-free. It does not specify that TRADITION means NO Eggs/Butter. I believe it is “Traditional” in the fact that Wheat flour is used but that is it. If I had know that they did not use Butter/Eggs in their “Traditional” cakes I would have gone elsewhere because we like our cakes with a moist/buttery taste that requires eggs/butter. When I picked up the cake, it said to eat it within 3 days or freeze it if it would be consumed later. It was made on Friday, I picked it up on Saturday and opened it Monday ( My Son’s Birthday). This is within 3 days. The exterior of the cake looked nice. However, when we cut into it, Jam was very watery and made the inside of the cake look gross with it discoloring the “cake” making it look like it was moldy (see pics enclosed). It only got worse as the “cake” was hard and tasteless (think NERF Frisbee). I’m glad it was only our immediate family that experienced this as I would have been extremely embarrassed to serve this for company. I contacted Scratch Bakery and after multiple back and forth, they offered to give me a refund for the Jam (via gift card lol) but refused to refund the entire cake which was tossed into the garbage. The owner kept referring to the fact that this was how they have been making these cakes for 8 years and that no one complained before, which is definitely NOT true as anyone can see via reviews on Yelp/Google/etc. Their Policy also states (of course, after we had already picked up the “cake”) they have to be told within 24 hours of PICKING UP the cake that there is a problem with the order before a refund is even considered. So unless you consume the cake within a day of picking it up you are out of luck. I think they could have avoided this whole interaction if they would have just been honest in their description of TRADITIONAL cake as NOT containing Butter/eggs. Their is NO such description on their web site and they never communicated this information at all during the ordering process. The owner suggested that I should have purchased a cup cake to sample the flavor of their “cake” before thinking about ordering one. For the cost of their cakes, they should be offering a free sample of (or a piece of) cup cake/cake before you plunk down the $$$ in ordering one. I think for a Vegan/Gluten-free experience, they offer an option for those people that have these strict dietary needs. But they should be clear on their web site/communication that they do not use EGGS/Butter in THEIR “Traditional” cakes and not just that they use non-vegan/non-GF wheat flour. I am giving them 2 stars because the Butter Cream frosting was good.

5 stars hands down, no questions asked. This team of creative and lovely people make dreams come true. We used them for our wedding cake and have been using them since. Not just beautiful desserts but downright delicious and allergen friendly ones! We have bought multiple desserts and cakes from Scratch and make sure to tell everyone about them because they work so hard to make your vision and taste buds come alive. So pumped to get my Thanksgiving pie order next week

We had an intimate wedding due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We opted to do small individual desserts to keep things sanitary as possible, but wanted it still be visually appealing and fitting the theme -spring succulents. We asked for shortbread and chocolate chip cookies with buttercream frosting. Scratch delivered not only with our traditional cake for cutting, but the cookies were works of art. All our guests were blown away with not only how great they tasted, but how gorgeous they looked. Even those who didn’t attend were drooling over them. Also, the cake was delicious, moist, and it was very difficult picking from their extensive flavor list. Highly recommend this business.

Molly and her team are a joy to work with. They went above and beyond to entertain my ridiculous ideas for a mini dessert bar at my wedding. Molly made thoughtful suggestions to complement the flavors I was going for, and they were a huge hit.

I wish I lived upstate again just so I could come in more often. Thank you, Scratch!
