Coffee Call Reviews

Highly recommend! Delicious beignets and coffee! They too have soups and other items that look/sound delicious as well. Stopped in while visiting a friend and she brought us to Coffee Call, so glad as their service was friendly and fast. They offer a large indoor area with lots of seating available and some outdoor seating as well, all well kept and clean. Recommend a visit when in Baton Rouge.

Coffee Call is one of my happy places for coffee & breakfast. I’ve been driving- thru it for years. My go-to order is their delicious cafe aulait, yummy smoked sausage biscuit, and a cranberry-orange muffin. At the window is Miss Margaret, who greets me with her friendly smile. It’s a wonderful way to start my day☀️

This place was way better than the famous one located in French Quarter!
Its fingers look overwhelming at a first glance, but soon they will disappear LOL.
And the sugar powder on top is moderately sweet. It is perfect!

It’s been way too long since my first experience at Coffee Call. My second round did not disappoint. The beignets were as advertised but the Cafe Ole stole the show this time. It was also a great 1st experience for my wife. Do NOT miss Coffee Call!

This place definitely has the taste of the famous Cafe in New Orleans, with its beignets and cafe au lait. We ordered the large beignet strips and it was a lot for two people (very generous serving). In my opinion, the atmosphere could be tweaked to be more welcoming. More branded products could be made available (cups with the store name, etc.). Maybe have a nearby billboard promoting the store (there might already be one…I could have missed it). I plan to return! It was good!

Came here to grab a bite to eat and to kill some time. The customer was excellent. It was my first time and all of the staff did a great job of helping me figure things out. I ate my beignets and Cafe au lait at the restaurant and order a po boy and soup to go. Everything was delicious!

I’m visiting and I’ve never had beignets before. All the locals told me this is the best place for beignets (ben-YAYZ) in Baton Rouge. This morning, I tried them for the first time. OH MY GOODNESS. They are better than the best sopapillas I’ve ever had (and I’ve tried so many different restaurants in New Mexico). In fact, they are better than any doughnut or Indian Fry Bread I’ve tried, too.

The dough is different than sopapillas or doughnuts. It’s more like the pastry dough one makes cream puffs or éclairs from, but instead of baking it, they cut it into squares and deep fry it. They smother it in powdered sugar. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. No greasy feeling in my mouth like I often get with doughnuts and some sopapillas.

Tradition says one must wear all black or another dark color so locals will know why you’re smiling from ear to ear when they see the powdered sugar has dusted your clothing.

My photos show the powdered sugar lumpy. It wasn’t at the shop, but we took them to go and you know heat and confectioner’s sugar = clumps. It was still delicious. They are very generous with the powdered sugar.

Coffee was great, too. I tried the traditional cafe au lait and my husband had their decaffeinated coffee. Nice, smooth coffee. No bitterness.

Just left there and had an amazing experience! Came from Texas and are passing through on way to Florida. The beignets were delicious and they even brought the LSU designed one over for free. The workers were friendly and we even bought shirts. It was a dream of mine to eat beignets after watching Princess and the frog and Scooby Doo Zombie Island. It’s a Must visit place!

We are in Baton Rouge for just a few days. We had a huge lunch and didn’t need supper so we stopped here for a nighttime snack. Just perfect. The beignets were perfect as was the cafe au lait and hot chocolate.
