After searching high and low for some good donuts in Seattle, we found the Top Pot location in SLU that was open on Labor Day. I know this is technically a coffee place but for us, their donuts were the main event.

The location we visited had great decor inside, much better than your typical coffee/donut spot. Both opposing side walls were covered in massive bookcases that stretched two stories to the ceiling. The lofted second floor had a sizable dining area where you can sit and eat, read or write (in typical Seattle fashion).

We got some (great!) coffee and a half dozen donuts that came in a box with wonderful branding. I love that this place has a wide variety of BOTH cake and Old Fashioned (sour cream) style donuts. We got an old fashioned lemon, old fashioned glazed, old fashioned chocolate glazed, blueberry fritter, cookies and cream, and a raspberry chocolate glazed.

They were all really good but the fritter was the tea link. I would stick with the old fashioned varieties. I think these may be some of the best donuts in Seattle, at least they certainly have the biggest variety!

Great donuts. My favorites are the Bavarian Cream or the simple yeast risen glazed donut.

Even though the coffee is fresh ground and brewed on site, there are better cups to be had elsewhere.

The staff is friendly though and the upstairs loft area is great for a few hours of remote work.

Had donuts from here while visiting from out of town. Definitely get the raised donuts as they were very good. They were somehow both dense, but fluffy. Never had a donut like that before. The cake ones were pretty basic though.

I lived these donuts! I’m not even a big fan of donuts but had to try while in the PNW. My favorite was the old fashioned one.
Went in at 8am on a Friday, not too busy and lots of fresh donuts.
Place is clean, plenty of space, restrooms, indoor and outdoor seating and coffee was ok (not great) but worth the visit.

Came about an hour before closing as this place was highly rated. I got the top four donuts remaining which ranged from glazed old fashioned, glazed, chocolate, and maple flavored donuts. The glazed old fashioned was supposed to be what they’re known for, but honestly it was our least favorite. It had a stale aura and after tastes were old oil/grease. The regular glazed was sweet, had a nice bounce and chew to the dough, but it also had a distinct oil after taste. The chocolate was good. You can really taste the chocolate in it. The maple was extremely sweet, and provided nice bounce as well, just not as good as the regular glazed.

At just under $12 for four donuts, I wish they didn’t have an old oily flavor to some of them. Or at least discount them after a certain hour for lack of freshness. They stores library vibe is chill. Didn’t try any coffee or drinks so I can’t speak on that. Fresh donuts are obviously the best, but if you’re gonna sell them all day, the taste depreciates.

Best donut shop in Seattle that I’ve tried – and I went to like half a dozen of em during my recent trip. Great atmosphere, excellent tasting donuts (huge and well-priced) and super friendly staff. Cannotnot recommend enough.

Doughnuts are spectacular as are the drinks. The old fashioned doughnuts are more cake like than I am used to (in comparison to say, federal doughnuts in Philadelphia who’s old fashioned doughnuts are more airy). Nevertheless, these are some of the best doughnuts I have ever had, especially the raised glazed yeasted doughnut. Best glazed doughnut I have ever had. Couple it with a cortado and you are bound to start your day off right. Also, the space and ambiance is great!

Shopping Bag

Hand-forged doughnuts and coffee that rivals some of the best examples of both from across the country. Donuts aren’t as exotic as places like Voodoo and coffee isn’t as curated as places like SteamDot, but this place does both of those just about as good and they do it in an amazing, airy glass-fronted building right outside of downtown. Watch the monorail sail part outside while you feast on the well-made sugar and caffeine concoctions.

Everything you can want in a donut! Coming from a donutholic, these donuts were amazing! The texture was soft and chewy, and there was a good amount of filling in the center, which is extremely important! If you are visiting the area, be sure to stop in.

Great doughnuts, huge fans of the glazed and pumpkin donuts in particular. Glazed doughnut one of the best we have ever had. Cute aesthetic and good coffee.
