Sunshine Spice Bakery & Cafe Reviews

Absolutely delicious! I stopped by for some coffee and dumplings and was blown away! The dumplings were perfectly cooked with an incredible combinations of flavors. I got the cardamom latte with oat milk and it had me savoring every sip! I will absolutely be back! Wonderful environment and very clean and well kept cafe

Incredibly unique, amazing service, stellar pastries. Not like my review is going to improve their 4.9 rating, lol, but I had to write and say what an amazing experience this was. We had a little of everything today, including the wonderful Turkish coffee and it was all so, so good. It took us too long to find this place, but it’s now easily our favorite dessert spot in the valley and will stay in our regular rotation of restaurants.

Such a delightful experience!! ♥

Please do yourself a favor and try this Wonderful bakery. You will not be disappointed. Everything was exceptional from the service to the display of the items and the Amazing original artwork (by the owners) displayed on the walls.
This was my first experience trying saffron pudding and oh my goodness!! The texture and the flavor made my taste buds sing, harmoniously!!
My mocha was the absolute best I’ve had in a l really long time. Such a treat!!
You Must try it!! I’ll be going back asap because I’ve heard that the soup is fantastic!!

Today was my first visit to Sunshine Spice Bakery & Cafe. I was meeting a friend who loves and recommended it for lunch and tea/coffee.
It was such a delightful place to be & is owned by 4 talented sisters who immigrated from Afghanistan. Not only are they artists in the kitchen, but also show their talents in painting.
Their art is beautifully displayed in the bakery case & on the walls. I can’t wait to return so I can try a different dessert every time.
I had a matcha tea, stuffed bread & new dessert offering called the Noel cake. Yum!

Really great food. Will be back for the dumplings and cake!
The dumplings have a bit of ground beef and onion for filling with a paper thin wrapper drizzled with a yogurt saved and spiced butter then sprinkled with fresh herbs.

The soup is wonderful, the cardamom latte is strong and delicious, the lemon cookies are a perfect little treat, and pastries are GORGEOUS and so tasty! The filled bread is unique and tastes so so good! My mouth is salivating writing this review –time to head back in for more!

Sunshine Spice Bakery & Cafe

On 3/18/21, I visited this Afghan bakery, located in Boise. They have a coffee and tea menu that includes Turkish coffee and Cardamom Latte’s. In addition to baked goods, they have a small menu that consists of: dumpling, avocado tuna salad, traditional soup, avocado toast and stuffed bread.

I bought the following:

Saffron Pudding ($6) – I love saffron and pudding, so this was the item that I was most excited to try. I found it disappointing. The pudding wasn’t as firm as one expects a pudding to be. I didn’t care for the flavor. Though I prefer desserts that are not overly sweet, it could have benefited from the addition of a little more sugar. The flavor is hard to describe. It didn’t have much flavor and the little that it did, wasn’t one I cared for. The top of the pudding was saffron colored, but it didn’t have much of a saffron flavor.

Coffee Orange Financier ($3) – A financier is a small French almond cake that is baked in a mold. It is supposed to be light and moist with a crisp, exterior. I liked the combination of the orange flavored cake and the coffee butter cream frosting, but the cake texture was heavy and dry. If you purchase one, I recommend asking how freshly baked they are.

Saffron Cookie ($1.75) – Like the saffron pudding, the cookie could’ve benefited from the addition of some extra sugar. It was dry and had little flavor.

I would like to revisit this bakery and try some other items, but my first visit was disappointing. — at Sunshine Spice Cafe.

I enjoyed the experience of having breakfast here. Both Turkish coffee and Saffron Latte were very good and strong, just the way I like it. We also tried their avocardo toast and saffron pudding and they were both good although the latter was too sweet for my taste. The ambience was very modern and still had the traditional touch of Afghanistan culture. The staffs were friendly. This is definitely a must try place.

Amazing! I had the pistachio latte based on the suggestion from the staff, it was awesome. We also enjoyed the dumplings and soup for lunch, both were delicious. Had the saffron pudding as a treat and it too was very tasty!

Can’t wait to go back again soon.
