Fabulous homemade donuts! Chocolate iced was so good, I wanted to turn around a buy a dozen more! Go early. They run out and then close! Only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Run by an older couple and one more gent who work their tails off to provide the best donuts this old lady has had in 50 years! Call ahead to see if they’re open, and what’s left, then drive up, sit in your car and wait for them to come to your car. Believe me, it’s worth it!

Be warned the lady who runs it can be a little short with you & likes things done a certain way. Best is to call ahead & let it ring. If they don’t answer. Leave a message with your order & come back in the morning for pickup. All this is okay because they have the best donuts, cinnamon rolls & apple fritters in the state. All served warm right out of the fryer. Pay no attention when yelps best donut shops are in Chicago, it’s rigged.

Long story short, I went there for donuts this morning. Had a hard time getting into the crowded parking lot. It is curbside pick up only. I spent 30 mins waiting and gave the guy taking the orders my money and told him my order on 2 occasions, only to be told they were only doing phone in orders. I get it, they were busy, they have delicious donuts, however I was busy and on my way to work as well. The guy told me I should have phoned in my order. I told him, I tried but could only get the answering machine. He told me I should have called back. He stated “that is how it is when you have the best donuts around.” You may have good donuts, but terrible customer service. I won’t be back.

Best donuts in central Illinois. Have no complaints about the donuts but the prices are definitely kinda high and unless you get there when they open the selection of donuts and other goods is very limited. I got a dozen assorted donuts Thursday and it was 15 bucks.

Ok friends, so today I crossed the river over to East Peoria to go try out the Broasted (Broiled + Roasted) Chicken at Carl’s Bakery & Restaurant.
Man, they’ve got a good thing going on over in EP! So without further ado, Carl’s is tied for #1 on my Greater Peoria deep fried chicken list with Amir’s in the East Bluff!
I’d go to both any day.
If you’re thinking about heading over to Carl’s, please call ahead as they’re doing only curbside pickup, takes about 20-30 minutes for your order to be ready cos they cook’em fresh to order.
Oh and BTW their donuts are really good as well.
P.s.s. I guess this is closer to the Washington, Morton & EP friends ☺️

Carl’s is the best place to get fresh tasty donuts in the area. Call let it ring and then leave a message and then pick up the next morning. The baverian cream filled donuts are stuffed FULL of creamy goodness.

I never liked danish until I had one at Carl’s Bakery. They are so good. Honestly, all the pastries here are fabulous. But, you absolutely must try the apricot danish and the strawberry pinwheels.
