Don’s Bistro Reviews

My daughter and I ordered one small latte and one small mocha. The cups were filled half way with old lukewarm coffee and topped with cold milk. The mocha had a pump of chocolate. No espresso, no steaming of the milk. Mine went directly into the nearest trashcan. My daughter drank a bit of the mocha and then threw it out. Very weird.

Thought the gravy needed a lot more flavor but nice atmosphere and I’m sure other things on menu are delicious.

Amazing place full of amazing people. Don has a way of making you forget where you are while in his bistro.

I grew up in an Italian family with no shortage of great Italian cooks. I ate some of the best Italian beef I’ve had in my life today at Don’s Bistro—dreaming about it now! My friend and I stopped in for nachos today while visiting a friend at OSF hospital. Nachos were topped with cheese and Italian beef, and served by 2 really nice young men, both “on the ball” and attentive to great service. They really listened to their customers, and served with a smile. As my friend and I left the hospital at the end of the visit with our friend, we got 2 Italian beef sandwiches for supper. Outstanding beef!

I have been visiting this place for 5 plus years and up until last year they never disappointed me .. the last two times I got food it looked old and tasted horrible.. don’t know what’s going on anymore

I’m sure that this is a very good little spot for hospital staff to pop into for a bite on their lunch break, but wow, it was a madhouse. The workers there seemed very stressed and a little cranky. Our grilled cheese was ok, and we got chips and a soda to go with. It’s not cheap in there, but convenient. Would probably stop in again if I get stuck at the hospital for several hours.

Love the staff and the food is great too. The shakes are amazing. Have to be one of the best I have ever had. Just thinking about the food here makes me hungry

Mocha’s & Carmel coffee are very disappointing. It was literally a cup of coffee & the lady put syrup in it, tasted like water downed syrup. Granted, there are certainly more important things going on in life than worrying about a cup of coffee, got it, but if you are advertising something that ppl are paying for, make it correctly or don’t sell it. Food is great, coffee was definitely subpar.

The food was microwaved in front of customers in styrofoam. It was poor quality and not even warm. Don was rude and barking at customers “you, what do you want to eat” pointing at people. It wasnt at all caring for a place that should be about helping people have a more tolerable experience at a hospital.
