Went to this donut shop (had been open for just a few days when I went) on East Colfax, steps away from the Colorado Capitol building. Friendly staff and service, nice selection of donuts and sweets. Half-dozen donuts came to about $10 including tax. Not a very large place – there are some tables and chairs inside of you want to eat there. Parking is available in the rear apparently, but I found it easier to park at a parking meter on Colfax. Will be back.

In an era with so many specialty, super sweet donuts, sometimes the best thing is a perfectly made traditional glazed, or that old-school jelly doughnut you remember from childhood.
That’s what brings me back to donuts year after year, and it’s what Capitol Donuts delivers in spades. Their original glazed is one of the best I’ve had in Denver: chewy but not too chewy, sweet but not too sweet, the kind you can have a few of without going through a sugar overload.
And the staff is fantastic as well. I’m sure we’ve all been to a donut shop where the owner was difficult; the gentleman who runs this store couldn’t be friendlier, it’s a welcome experience on a tired morning when you just need a delicious snack.
I highly recommend you check it out, all the donuts look good, but for my money, it’s the classics that really shine.

Some of the best donuts we’ve had! The perfect amount of doughy – fluffy and chewy but not too much so. Love that you can choose the flavor of cream filling too. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

This place was good the first times I went but subsequent trips made me question the cleanliness. Most donuts are the basic yeast rings with toppings and tasted good. Our toppings and selection were skimpier than I see in other photos.

Walked in late on a Monday, because the pictures looked better than the grubhub menu. Glad I walked in. Very friendly, great donuts. Selection in the store was great. If you’re into filled donuts, they fill to order.

1 of the worst donuts I’ve ever had. I could have went to a gas station and got better. My cake donut was stale yet went I bit into it the donuts still had uncooked batter inside. Plus it didn’t taste good. The place didn’t look the cleanest either very shabby kind of feel. Like Holy Moly Donut Shop- if you’ve seen Friday you’d get what I wad saying. Disappointed because the service was great and everything was reasonably priced.
