I love apple fritters. I try them everywhere we go!.

I was excited to see a highly rated (4.7 at the time of this post) noting the apple fritters as a star. Unfortunately I was not overly impressed. To me (and everyone is different) I felt it was average based on:

Price: $2.95 for the large is higher than average
Size. The large is an average size
Apple. There was literally 4 small cubes. This is below average both in amount, size and taste.
Fry. Above average. Nice and crispy on the outside. Moist and fluffy inside
Spice. Below average. It appeared well spiced, but it didn’t taste that way. Possibly the spice is old?
Glaze. Too much for me, so below average

Over hyped.

Was looking forward to trying what looked like a delicious apple fritter especially after reading such consistently positive reviews.

Besides the good crisp, it was over glazed (and therefore sweet) and had 2 pieces of apple.

If you like waiting in line to get donuts that are just sweet fried dough then you may give this place a 5. Not my thing.

Here was a friend’s suggestion. We went there on Sunday morning around 11 AM there was a long line but it was worth it. We ordered a Breakfast Sandwich and a Breakfast croissants plus two Donuts . It was the best donuts I have ever had in San Diego. Sandwiches were fresh and delicious!
I saw in reviews some people were saying it is Cash only but they take cards.

It will be my go-to breakfast place!

Mouthwatering display of standard donut varieties. Box of dozen donuts for $17 and the family is going through them quickly! I’m more of a fan of yeast donuts… at least until I tried the red velvet cake donut from Rose! Will keep this place in mind when in the neighborhood.

The ladies at Rose Donuts will impress you with their delicious donuts and stellar customer service.

I love this place. I had a temporary work gig in mission valley and during that time I would often stop by Rose’s in the morning for some coffee and a raspberry donut. One of the ladies got to know me and once she saw me in line, she would start to grab what I wanted while I waited in line- raspberry donut, coffee and just the right amount of creamer. Every so often I would change it up and get something different. What was really nice was that they had such a wide variety of options beyond donuts. Their bagel choices were so delicious as well as their muffins.

The donuts were great but what I really loved was the genuine sense of pride and friendliness. They always said Hi and had a friendly smile. I no longer work in the area but the next time Im down there I’ll probably stop in.

This is a true mom/pop type business. Those ladies are in there EARLY making fresh donuts and living the life. If you’re going to support a local business this is a great shop that deserves your patronage.

I searched best donuts in San Diego- these guys were listed at the top and for good reason! One of the friendliest staff you’ll ever be helped by, and their donuts and pastries are to die for. They have the perfect texture, right amount of sweetness, and everything is made with love. Coming back for their breakfast sandwiches!

What stands out here is that the doughnuts taste very fresh. They taste better than Tim Hortons and Dunkin Donuts but not as good as Krispy Kreme. Had the chocolate sprinkle glazed and it was a plain yeast donut with a nice chocolate icing glaze and sprinkles. The old fashioned donut was quite mild and bready. The best one in my opinion is the plain glazed donut.

Fast service! Seating outside available. Sandwich was huge tasty and fresh. I will be back. I could only eat half the sandwich.
