If you like a friendly and clean bakery with interior and exterior seating this is a place for you. I visited for the first time last week when looking for a local bakery to get a cake for a dinner I was invited to and wandered into this gem. My first impression was one of appreciation at how fabulously clean this place was.
Walking in I was greeted with a beautiful display and a well lit cafe style seating area, behind it a small retail display with some Euro goods and unique ingredients. Next turning toward the interior of the shop, oh the beautiful displays of sweets, petit fours, marzipan goodies, cookies, cakes, pies and other pastries. Absolutely stunning display. Again the display was complimented by the spotless manner the store was kept.
Here shout out goes to staff, everyone was positively friendly and helpful (thanks to Michelle). All were willing to share their favorite items as suggestions and were so kind in explaining what the different tortes were. I ended up getting a lovely lemon cake that had a bright sunny flavor, that complimented the early dinner theme that day.
Hours are limited to mostly before 6pm so get there early but totally worth a visit. Almost forgot there is a nice outdoor seating area adjacent to the parking lot that would be great to sip a coffee and nosh on a sweet with a friend.

Best pastry shop in this area without a doubt. Lots of authentic German pastries as well as other items. Staff is friendly and shop is spacious with an area to sit and devour your food.

Went this morning around 9am. Shop was pretty busy, but staff are pros. Take a number, wait your turn while drooling over case after case of goodies. We picked up some donuts, pretzels, eclair, breakfast quiche for tomorrow and dill potato salad for lunch. Everything is so delicious!

Heidelberg made my wedding cake. They were so easy to work with, and everyone we spoke to during the process was extremely friendly and helpful. Unlike other pastry shops we contacted, they didn’t require a six month lead time to make our wedding cake. Actually, when I initially called, they thought that I needed a cake for that weekend, and still took my call to see what they could make happen for me. Fortunately, we actually had a couple months to work with, but the fact that they were willing to see what they could do to help immediately made me want to go to them for my all pastry needs.
They delivered the cake on time without any issues. Everything was exactly how we wanted it and delicious. The cake was moist, and the flavors were exceptional!

Excellent bakery with a wide variety of authentic German cuisine cookies, pastries, deserts, and other food. There are wurst and salads, traditional and custom cakes, and made to order sandwiches and marzipan. The service is fast and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful.

Thanks so much Heidelberg!! You all did an amazing job on the cake! The young lady I spoke with on the phone was not only extremely helpful but also very personable! She answered all my questions and helped me place my order. She gave great recommendations. The cake looks so nice and pretty! They did an amazing job getting the Logo on the cake (see the attached photo)!! Also very affordable! With delivery, 1/4 cake, with custom logo was all $126!! Can’t beat that! In addition to the prompt and smooth delivery!! Great job & Thank you!!!!

Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. They’re amazing. A myriad of pies, pastries, cookies, donuts, quiches, cakes, cup cakes, German groceries coffee, bratwursts and sausage etc. I’ve had their chocolate chip cookies, lemon poppyseed cake, lemon mouse, crumb cake and much more! Everything is absolutely delicious. They have meats, a deli section and coffee too. I’m definitely gonna go back for a quick lunch bite and a cup of coffee – it all smells great. Oh, and the prices are extremely reasonable.

This is a legit bakery ( also some deli items ). Open early. Very popular – constant stream of customers by 7:30am on a Friday. Excellent service. Amazing selection of pastries, cookies, breads etc. I sat inside and enjoyed a raspberry croissant and coffee. Saw an outdoor seating area as well.

One of the most amazing places in the DC metro area! Unique pastries, donuts and amazing breads that you may get overseas! They also have wedding cakes, exotic deli meats, and a bratwurst cart on Saturdays out in front! You can’t say you’ve been to Arlington Virginia without experiencing to Heidelberg pastry shops!
