What do you mix Orgain with?

Orgain is a popular plant-based protein powder that can be mixed with a variety of ingredients to create delicious and nutritious drinks. Orgain contains a blend of pea, brown rice, and chia proteins, making it a complete protein source. It is also dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free, and kosher. Orgain has a mild, slightly sweet flavor that pairs well with many foods and beverages.

Water

The simplest way to mix Orgain is with water. Add one scoop of Orgain powder to 8-12 ounces of water and shake or blend until smooth. This creates a quick protein shake that contains 150 calories and 16 grams of protein per serving. Orgain blends seamlessly into water, creating a drink with a creamy, smoothie-like consistency. Adding ice can create a refreshing post-workout recovery drink.

Almond Milk

Almond milk is one of the most popular bases for Orgain shakes. Pour 8-12 ounces of unsweetened almond milk into a blender, add one scoop of Orgain powder, 1 tablespoon of almond butter, and 1⁄2 banana. Blend until creamy for a filling breakfast shake. The nutty flavor of almond milk complements the mild flavor profile of Orgain. Almond milk provides vitamin E, calcium, and heart-healthy fats to balance the protein from Orgain.

Oat Milk

For a nutrient boost, combine Orgain with oat milk. Oat milk contains fiber, iron, vitamin A, vitamin D, and calcium. Blend one scoop of Orgain with 8 ounces of oat milk, a handful of spinach, 1⁄2 cup of frozen mango, and 1 tablespoon of chia seeds. The fruit sweetens the shake naturally while the spinach increases antioxidant content. Oat milk’s natural sweetness and creamy texture work well with Orgain protein.

Soy Milk

Despite being dairy-free, Orgain combines smoothly with soy milk. Pour one cup of unsweetened soy milk into a blender with one scoop of Orgain, 1⁄4 cup frozen strawberries, 1⁄2 banana, and 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder. Blend until smooth for a creamy, protein-packed smoothie. Soy milk provides fiber, vitamin A, potassium, and phytonutrients.

Coconut Milk

Coconut milk adds natural creaminess and subtle tropical flavor when blended with Orgain. Mix one scoop of Orgain with 1 cup light coconut milk, 1⁄2 cup frozen mango, and 1⁄4 cup coconut flakes. The nutty flavor and richness of coconut milk balances the light vegetal notes from pea and brown rice protein in Orgain. Coconut milk also provides MCTs for energy.

Yogurt

Plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt combines with Orgain for an extra protein boost. In a bowl, mix together 6 ounces of Greek yogurt with 1⁄2 cup of blueberries, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds, 1 teaspoon of honey and one scoop of Orgain vanilla. The tart yogurt balances the sweetness of the honey and blueberries. Thanks to the probiotics in yogurt, this combo may also boost digestive health.

Kefir

For a smooth, drinkable shake, mix Orgain with kefir. Kefir is fermented milk containing probiotics. Blend together 6 ounces of plain kefir with one frozen banana, one scoop of Orgain, and 1⁄4 cup rolled oats. The live active cultures in kefir can promote a healthy gut when consumed regularly. Kefir’s tangy flavor blends nicely with the mild Orgain powder.

Nut Butters

Nut butters like almond butter, peanut butter and cashew butter add nutrition and creaminess when combined with Orgain. Blend one scoop of Orgain with 1 tablespoon of nut butter, 8 ounces of cold unsweetened almond milk, 1⁄2 banana and 1⁄2 cup ice. The healthy fats in nut butters balance the carbohydrate content of Orgain protein powder. Nut butters also add minerals like magnesium, potassium and iron.

Seeds

Chia, flax, hemp and pumpkin seeds boost the nutritional value of Orgain smoothies. These seeds provide healthy fats, fiber and minerals. Try blending Orgain with 1-2 tablespoons of seeds, 8 ounces of soy milk, 1⁄2 cup frozen berries and 1⁄2 frozen banana for a nutrient-dense meal replacement. The small seeds blend smoothly into Orgain shakes.

Granola

Add some crunch and extra carbs by topping Orgain smoothies with granola. Make a smoothie with one scoop Orgain, 6 ounces of kefir and 1⁄2 cup mixed berries. Top with 1⁄4 cup granola and 1 tablespoon slivered almonds. The heart-healthy oats, nuts and dried fruit in granola provide fiber. Just be mindful of added sugars in some store-bought granolas.

Dates

Blend creamy, fiber-rich Medjool dates into Orgain smoothies for natural sweetness. Dates contain potassium, copper, magnesium and vitamin B6. Add 1-2 pitted Medjool dates into the blender with Orgain, frozen bananas, almond milk and cocoa powder. Dates add sweetness without added sugars. Their sticky texture helps bind the smoothie ingredients.

Coffee

Turn Orgain into a frosty, energizing shake by blending it with coffee. Brew 6 ounces of cold brew coffee. Add coffee, one scoop of Orgain, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1⁄2 banana and a handful of ice to a blender. Mix until frothy. The cocoa lightly sweetens the shake. Coffee provides a caffeine jolt while Orgain provides sustained energy from protein.

Tea

For an antioxidant boost, mix Orgain protein with green tea. Brew 6 ounces of chilled green tea. Mix together the green tea, one scoop of Orgain vanilla, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, 1⁄2 cup mango and ice in a blender. The grassy green tea flavor combines nicely with the sweet mango and maple. Green tea provides polyphenols and theanine.

Sparkling Water

Make an Orgain mocktail by blending it with sparkling water. Mix one scoop of Orgain with 4 ounces of sparkling water, 4 ounces of pineapple juice, ice, and lime juice in a blender. The carbonation gives the shake a lighter, fizzier texture. Look for unsweetened flavored sparkling waters to avoid added sugars. The pineapple juice provides sweetness.

Low-fat Milk

For an extra hit of protein, use low-fat cow’s milk when mixing Orgain. One cup of low-fat milk provides 8 grams of protein on its own. Blend one scoop of Orgain with 1 cup cold low-fat milk, 1⁄2 cup frozen cherries, 1⁄2 banana and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter. Milk adds a creaminess while the fruit sweetens the shake.

Protein Powders

Stacking Orgain with other protein powders can significantly increase the protein content of shakes. Try blending one scoop each of Orgain and whey protein with water, ice, banana and berries. Orgain and whey provide a complete amino acid profile when combined. Pea protein powder can also be added to provide muscle-building amino acids like arginine.

Vegetables

For a nutrient boost, blend Orgain protein powder with leafy greens and vegetables. Try combinations like Orgain, kale, zucchini, and pineapple or Orgain, spinach, carrots, banana, ginger and almond milk. The mild flavor of Orgain disguises the taste of vegetables. Juice some vegetables first to reduce texture issues.

Fruits

Fresh or frozen fruits add flavor, nutrients and thickness to Orgain shakes. Berries, mangos, bananas, cherries, peaches, apples and pomegranate all work well in Orgain smoothies. Use at least 1⁄2 cup of fruit per smoothie to provide a balanced flavor and texture. Rotate fruits regularly to take advantage of different vitamins and antioxidants.

Best Fruits to Mix with Orgain

Bananas Potassium, fiber, magnesium, vitamin B6, vitamin C
Berries Antioxidants including anthocyanins, vitamin C, fiber
Mangos Vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B6, potassium, fiber
Cherries Antioxidants including anthocyanins, melatonin, vitamin C
Pineapple Vitamin C, bromelain, manganese, thiamine

Spices

Spices like cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, and vanilla can enhance the flavor of Orgain shakes. These spices also provide antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits. For example, blend Orgain with almond milk, banana, ice, cinnamon and nutmeg for a creamy, aromatic shake. Start with 1⁄4-1⁄2 teaspoon of ground spices.

Stevia

To naturally sweeten Orgain smoothies, use stevia extracts or powder. Stevia comes from the stevia leaf. It provides sweetness without added sugars or calories. Add a few drops of liquid stevia or 1⁄4 teaspoon powdered stevia to Orgain shakes as needed. Stevia combines well with cocoa powder and vanilla.

Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

For chocolate-flavored Orgain shakes, blend with unsweetened cocoa powder. Cocoa provides antioxidants called flavanols. Add 1-2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder per shake with Orgain, banana, berries and milk of choice. The rich chocolate flavor pairs nicely with the mild flavor of Orgain.

Conclusion

Orgain protein powder can be mixed with a wide variety of healthy, nutritious ingredients to create delicious shakes and smoothies. Combining Orgain with fruits, milk alternatives, spices, coffee, tea, protein powders and vegetables allows you to customize the flavor and nutritional benefits. There are endless combinations possible when mixing ingredients with Orgain. Focus on creating shakes that taste good and provide a balance of protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats and nutrients.

  1. LOVED YOUR VIDEO! I do not need to lose weight but I do enjoy eating healthy. I am a retired Deputy Sheriff of 30 yrs and just celebrated my 82nd BD. I have never mixed my Orgain drink with warm to hot water before but is a chilly day today so thought I would try to use at least WARM water. Also love 30 cal unsweetened Almond Breeze milk so might try that instead of water. As for the peanut butter addition, sounds great as I love Almond butter from Costco where I buy my Orgain Protein Powder. Thank you. All your info is great. Congratulations on your successful weight loss. Cheers, San
