Sugar Free Shack Reviews

Well darn! Being a fan of cupcakes (honestly, sweets in general), I was disappointed with Sugar-Free Shack. I love the concept of this place that “uses a 100% natural, no chemical, sweetener that is safe for diabetics, and does not significantly impact blood sugar levels.” But there is definitely a huge taste difference between “regular” cupcakes and these sugar-free ones.

When I entered Sugar-Free Shack, there was no greeting. That was already a bummer for me. The setup was cute as it gave me old-school candy soda shop vibes. I saw that they won baketopia! That’s pretty awesome because I love all those baking shows. Since they won, my expectations were high. They had a variety of treats to choose from, cupcakes, donuts, cake, and other pastries. I wanted to go all out and get one of each. But with the lack of customer service and the negative vibe I was getting, I decided just to get 2 of the tres leches cupcakes.

Being a tres leches fan, and with it having a very distinct taste and texture, I was missing all of that in this cupcake. It did not taste anything like tres leches. The cupcake was hard, which is the total opposite of tres leches. I was expecting a moist wet cupcake. The frosting tasted weird and wasn’t the best. I forced myself to finish it because I didn’t want to waste my $5. My daughter couldn’t even finish hers, so I had to eat hers, or else that would’ve been $10 in the trash. Oof!

I’m not sure if all low-carb, sugar-free cupcakes should taste like that or if they had a bad batch. Either way, I’m so glad I didn’t go all out and order one of each because if they all tasted like that, I would’ve been furious. I’ll stick to my delicious unhealthy cupcakes.

Delicious muffins! German chocolate and red velvet were moist and tasty low sugar is great!! Only one vegan cookie available. None of the items were dairy free but still delicious for gluten free!

I found the Sugar Free shack quite by accident some time ago. I have been eating here by choice, not by necessity. It’s always a great thing when you know that you can eats sweets with little to no guilt. I have spoken w/George. He is a great guy who runs this place. The choices are many and I couldn’t be happier to have found this. Prices are reasonable. They also do custom ordered cakes, as well as individual small bites. Highly recommend!

The place was packed but the employee didn’t get frazzled and was super friendly. Drove over 50 miles and all I can say is WOW! It didn’t disappoint and I will definitely be back.

I’ve bought a custom cake previously, and so satisfied! Recently walked in for some cupcakes & picked up 3 different flavors. Mocha hazelnut, banana pudding, and carrot. The first two were so dry, not sure if it was because they were low carb or no sugar. My family were very disappointed, we expected them to be moist and scrumptious. Very sad to throw them away. The carrot was surprisingly better than the first two. Not sure if I would like to go back and purchased the ones at the counter. I would recommend ordering in advanced

I am picky and basic when eating cake. I wrote the flavors I wanted as per the instructions on the ordering site. However it was overlooked in its entirety. I had one of the cakes the rest I didn’t even try. However I give 3 stars because I was replied to the next business day when I placed my order with a concern I had. They were prompt and precise then, for this I am thankful.

Wonderful tasty treats that you’d never know were sugar free and/or low carb.

Makes Keto much easier

I have been on and off of Keto for years at one point i lost 75 lbs , so i know keto works but every single time it becomes too hard because there are so few decent quality keto alternatives for a variety of foods.

The Sugar Free Shack has been a Godsend in that way. Cupcakes, Brownies, cheesecakes , the low carb Nutella option , they have so many great options to help me tame my ever-intense sweet tooth .

I can’t recommend this bakery enough !

I’ve tried two different cakes and the “conchas”. The consistency of the conchas is dense and wet, as if the bread had been soaked in syrup, nothing like the airy texture of traditional conchas. The frosting on the cakes is greasy, thick and overly sweet. The berries looked dirty. I’m underwhelmed by the quality of their overpriced pastries.

Not a bad little place was recommend by a friend of mines. Being on a diet plan it’s hard to find a keto/sugar free dessert place which is odd cause it’s LA and dessert places like this are harder to find.. I digress..
The staff is nice and gave us a stamp card for future purchases to get $5 off a order. We got a few things 3 cupcakes and a cinnamon roll. The roll was good being sugar free and the cupcakes weren’t bad either I am such a sugar junkie keto things hit my tastebuds differently. But it was good we got pumpkin, tres leche, and german chocolate cupcakes to give it a shot. The tres leche was tasty and the pumpkin one tasted like a muffin so I was happy. The german chocolate was decent not but my fave. Presentation was nice though and so was transportation holders my cupcakes made it home not smooshed or toppled over. Definitely will be back to try more.
