Philz Coffee Reviews

A nice coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating at the base of the CNN building. The iced mint mojito coffee is one of their specialties. It’s worth trying, especially if you like mint as they add several fresh leaves to the coffee and it’s not just some artificial extract. Also the staff was really friendly and the service was quick.

Obsessed with Philz Coffee!! Second review for a different location. My dad described their dark roast as ‘the father of all dark roasts’. Their iced coffee mojito is sooooo delicious!!!! Their ice coffee rose is also delicious. Bagels and soft and nice and flaky on the outside. Their croissants are buttery and yummy when warmed up. Indoor and outdoor seating is available staff is friendly and welcoming. Bathrooms are fairly clean and you need a code to get in.

We came from Toronto and Hands down one of the best coffee places we have had. Philz is worth a trip to California!!!

B—-y plump barista with a multicolored bib, brunette bangs, & an odd blonde bun. Didn’t like this location because of her. Much prefer Culver location… However… must say coffee was consistently still great.

Came here for the first time to this Philz location around 1:45 pm last Sunday on Halloween day!

5/5 iced mint mojito
5/5 customer service

Ordering experience
When I arrived, was only 1 person ordering in front of me, and about 6 customers to the right waiting for their drinks. A total of 3 staff members were working that day (1 at the front taking orders, and 2 baristas making drinks).

My interaction with the staff member who took my order and the barista who made my drink were wonderfully pleasant! I was honestly surprised by how genuine and friendly they seemed. I could tell it was really busy on Halloween day with all the in person/mobile orders coming in, yet despite how busy they were, they still seemed cheerful and happy. I really appreciated that!

The drink
I always order a medium iced mint mojito with almond milk – sweet and creamy is how I like it. The barista who made my drink did a wonderful job–very consistent with other locations! When he called my name to pick up my drink, he even asked me to try it to see if any adjustments needed to be made. While I declined the offer, I appreciated how he asked (Philz used to do this all the time, but I understand some locations have stopped due to the pandemic!).

Overall – would definitely come again! Not sure about how parking works though, and I have to confess that it was quite scary walking along sunset blvd to get there as there are sadly lots of homeless people live along the streets. I just wish there were more Philz locations between Hollywood and Santa Monica… anyway I recommend giving this place a try! I hope the next time I come here again the interactions and drink is just as pleasant!

Love my Iced Coffee Rosé from Philz! Had a lovely human interaction with Jasmine (We liked eachother’s names) who seemed to be genuinely happy to speak to/help all those she spoke to while I was there. So refreshing to see smiling faces!

Got the worst mint mojito I’ve ever had at this location. They seem to think it’s okay to cover the top of the drink with mint so you can’t even take a sip out of the lid. She even put mint as garnish too, why would you do that when the drink is already swimming in mint, you can’t see it, and it will clog the lid. I’ve never had this issue in the past, they always pressed the mint into the bottom of the cup. The girl that made my drink’s name was Rhaina but when I brought it to their attention they all seemed to defend her so it must be the way they’re trained to make it. On my way out the door I was still spitting out mint leaves into the trash and heard them laughing at me in the background. Needless to say I won’t be coming back to this location.

Such great coffee with lots of options! The mint mojito made the house way was so yummy and unique.

My staff used to shout about Philz coffee everyday. Finally tried it for myself.
Slightly unusual as you can choose your beans, they grind, then make your coffee. Mine on this visit was slightly more bitter than I like (but that was my bean choice more than anything else. Otherwise it was made well, with cream and sugar to order.
Also tried the turkey sausage sandwich – which was smaller but delicious.
A little confusing how the process worked on entry but there was signage (I just missed it). Staff was super friendly and welcoming.
