Mud Pie Bakery & Coffee Reviews

Love this vegan bakery! They have great bakery/breakfast items. Many drink options (coffee, tea…) Some of my favorites (in no order) cinnamon roll, donut (pumpkin, double chocolate w/ sprinkles; taste like fudge) Poptarts, & kolache. Can order in person or online. They will create your drink & option to warm up food for pick up orders.

Such a great variety of vegan options! They have multiple milk options, most with no extra up charges. They also have cupcakes, muffins, scones, fried donuts, and tons of other food options! Staff is kind and service is fast!

I had such a hard time choosing what to get that I ultimately got five things!

The breakfast sandwich was SO good, and I loved that it was on a biscuit. I had that in the cafe and then ordered some other items to go, including a muffin, pop tart, donut, and scone. Everything has been amazing!

What a vegan haven in Overland Park! I live in seattle but my mom grew up here and has family here still. I typically assume that my experience as a vegan in Kansas will be terrible, but since Mud Pie came around, that is not the case!

Everything they make is vegan, they don’t even have dairy milk in store. Non-dairy milk is no additionally cost (except oat, that’s a bit extra).

They have savory options like a breakfast sandwich, sausage cheddar scone, and kolaches.

We went twice in our three day trip and the best things we got were:

Sausage cheddar scone (amazing crunch on the outside, buttery flakes on the inside, delicious flavors)
Espresso Chip Muffin
Monkey bread (very sweet, tasty apples and raisin, not dry at all)
Green onion, cream cheese, and sausage kolache – WOW SO GOOD!! I would like to know what brand vegan cream cheese they use this was delicious. The bread was perfectly soft and the cream cheese was light and not overwhelming. Delicious savory snack.
Vegan king cake! Mardi Gras is tomorrow and I’ve never seen a place with vegan king cake. Looks like some people places pick up orders for full cakes!

We will 100% be back whenever we make the trip to OP again.

Great little slice of heaven for vegans! Pictured is the special Pride Brew, which was basically like an Au Lait with fun whipped topping and rainbow sprinkles.
My partner loves the poptarts, which they said were not too sweet, and the double chocolate donut which they LOVED.

My teenage son has extensive food allergies, and we struggle to find anywhere safe for him to go for food or drinks. Mud Pies is extraordinary for him! The staff is attentive to his concerns, intentional about recommendations and/warnings about certain items, and the quality of everything is excellent! I highly recommend Mud Pies for anyone looking for a good coffee shop, and especially if you need or prefer a quality vegan location.

It’s the perfect restaurant in my opinion. It’s vegan but tastes better than most store bought vegan foods. Great tea as well.

Both husband and I love their pastries. He’s obssessed with their cherry/cranberry muffins. I find that some of their savoury pastries can be a little too salty (for my taste, at least), but I still get them occasionally. Everyone who works there is friendly and polite. Clean place and I love the online ordering.

I had a cheddar bagle and a cappuccino. The bagel was yummy but could use 30 more seconds of toast to get the crunch to offset the cream cheese. The 4 star and not 5 star is because the cuppa had no latte art. For small cafes like these, I expect a bit more that starbucks.

Staff were friendly. The place is super mask friendly but would let you eat in. It seems lot of regulars dropped in for to go. Will visit again. Note, the place is vegan so you can’t have a dairy cuppa or latte.

While I may have a different experience I will start off with the coffee was good, but not “Oh my gosh. Have to come here daily.” I guess the problems I had was that this place had no visible “menu” except a few pieces of paper flat on the counter after you wait in line to get to see it. If you had never been there before (like me) you would have no idea of what is available. I also understand that timing is a concern when you go to a shop after the morning rush, things can be sold out. But we were there about 11 am and the selection was definitely low. Considering the amount of people in line, the 1 barista they had did his best preparing drinks.

The two menu items were served up immediately and we waited about 10 minutes for the coffee/tea. The blackberry muffin was moist and delicious, but the breakfast scone after it had cooled off (waiting for the coffee) was a bit disappointing. I give them A for effort on the vegan options, but overall just ok.
