Mel-O-Glaze Bakery Reviews

Not a place you’re going to hang out for a coffee and a treat, but the donuts are top-notch. I normally detest cake donuts, but their pumpkin spice (tis the season!) Was fabulous! I also just had to do the fruity pebbles glazer. DELISH! 5,000 calories later, and it’s time for a nap and sugar coma.

I had the baby eclairs, whipped cream filled snowballs, glazed cherry donut, and glazed blueberry donut. I think the glaze was too sweet, but overall it was all good. The staff was very nice, and the shop was well taken care of. They had catnip donuts for cats hahah.

I love the fun nature of this bakery. Colorful stripes on the interior and fun quips used to advertise certain treats. I do enjoy one of their signature items called the snowball. It’s a bite-sized creampuff with whipped cream inside coated with powdered sugar.
I do find almost everything else I’ve tried to be over the top sweet. I don’t know how to describe it. Everything kind of tastes the same because everything is so sweet.
I’m going to stick to the snowballs and donut holes. Those were quite good.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been back here since I don’t live in the neighborhood anymore – but it’s still worth the drive! Real donuts, not mass produced and distributed 24 hours ago. I could taste the hint of lemon in the glazed twist and my friend tasted a touch of Ginger and the Apple fritter. So delicious!

The bakery items are very good. Recently they have been OVERLY paranoid about germs. They have a very odd sense of humor. For the longest time they had a banner on the outside of their building, “legal crack balls”-for donut holes. Explaining that to my kids was super annoying. It must have been annoying to others and someone must of complained because the sign is now gone. They assume I care about their vaccine status. Their signage about “we are all fully vaccinates for ourselves and you.” That’s just bizarre. Please keep your medical information to yourselves. Please don’t assume everyone cares. We are now over a year past all of these restrictions were imposed on us. Wearing a mask in 90 degree weather seems excessive. I want to frequent businesses in my neighborhood, especially if they have good food. Now it’s gotten weirdly uncomfortable.

Honestly the best donuts in town. They also have the best gluten free donut in Minneapolis (albeit the glazed vanilla old fashioned is the only GF flavor). Recently they’ve seemed to have been short staffed, but if you catch them at the right time you will be glad you dropped in.

Nice local bakery in Minneapolis. I tried the custard long John with chocolate and sprinkles on top. Nothing super special but it was tasty! The chocolate chip cookie was crunchy and crumbly. I prefer soft and gooey but if you like hard cookies then this would be good for you! She also threw in a donut hole. Glad I tried it out!

Awesome spot. If you want to see the best of what this place has to offer go in on Sunday Morning as early as possible. Everything about the doughnuts is perfect, and the staff is super friendly. During the week selection is limited but if you need to stop in for a quick doughnut and a cup o coffee on your way to work, it’s perfect.

Deeeeelicious donuts!
Friendly staff who offered donut hole samples that were so tasty I will probably dream about them, hahaha!
We bought 3 different donuts, buttermilk cake, glazed and Nutella.
Enjoyed them in the afternoon with some coffee, they were perfect 🙂

For a cake donut the Maple Bacon was 3.5 out of 5. Service was friendly and donuts were cheaper than expected. Selection of donuts was a little low at around 4PM when I went but they had lots of other treat options; including for the occasion when Mom & Dad say only one…
