Martine’s Pastries Reviews

Nice bakery with light lunch menu. I stopped in just before closing, and folks were still very helpful and welcoming. Was hoping for more actual pastries; but the muffins, cakes and croissants looked very nice. VERY good tea. My roasted tomato bisque was *fantastic*. Créme brulee was also good. Sandwich Menu is mostly melted cheesy stuff- tempting but heads up for dairy intolerance. I even felt like the bisque was lightly cheesy.
Foodie gifts available, a small but interesting selection.
Very comfy benches, which got sanitized along with the table after each customer.

If you are in the mood for some excellent housemade pastries, then this is the place for you. They also have a great brunch selection. I love all the options and the open kitchen/bakery; you watch them decorating cakes and other pastries, and I always find their skills fascinating to watch. High recommend a stop here.

Sweet secrets!!! This place is a Lexington gem, hidden treasure actually. Nestled in the downtown residential area. I would have never known to look for this place. Glad I found it. I started out with the roast beef sandwich and for the price I thought, Ok not ordering anything else, but as you can see I left with a sampling of many things. Still for $9 I would have like a bag of chips or drink with my sandwich.

Pros: Cute, bookstore/bakery vibes. Think young business types or older matured yet cultured vibes.
Warm sandwiches hot off the grill caramelized onions and cheese!!
Sweet assortment of baked goods and desserts . They use a quick torch for the Crème brûlée

Cons: All of the desserts are fairly cold to soft freeze. I can smell them baking sweets but all of mine were out of a fairly cold display case. (I understand the need to preserve goods but I want my Creme brûlée warm not just the top ) Still ate the entire thing before pulling off.
Price wise cake slices are average at $4 but sandwiches need chips or soda to justify the price.

Conclusion: The atmosphere and quality justify a visit. Grab to-go because the sandwiches are great!!!

My husband and I absolutely loved the grooms cake! Chelsea was wonderful to work with and the cake was beyond what I imagined it would be! I cannot think you all enjoy!

I fell in love with their Lemon Blueberry Tea Cookies back around the holidays. Addicted … Like, ‘I know their hours by heart and when they make the new batch of these cookies’ addicted. Then they changed something and they were not the same. I was so bummed. I went there, talked to the owner and told her my disappointment, begging her to make them like she used to. Today I got a call from her telling me to stop by and try the cookies again. I was there within the hour, bought 3 bags. Got home. Tried one. OMG they were back to tasting the same as when I fell in love with them. Anyway, they have lots of other stuff, breakfast pastries, scones, lunch sandwiches. A great location, easy to park, nice atmosphere. Give ’em a try sometime. Best Lemon Blueberry cookies on the planet!

I love the quality of their food & drink but I feel like the general experience of eating in would be greatly enhanced by real dish ware instead of paper plates and plastic forks, or at least cuter/more environmentally friendly disposables. Also the plastic dividers upstairs are kind of weird at this point. I want some French level ambience!

Recently attended a small event upstairs and cannot rave enough about the food, hospitality and service. Lots of options with amazing desserts and meals. Good value for the price. They are so much more thank pastries. Adorable and cozy inside. Top quality service and homelike atmosphere. Martine and Jim have created something very special and you can tell in the quality. Unique space upstairs for small gatherings and hospitality that is top notch. This is definitely a Lexington gem.

I cannot say enough about how special this place is to me personally. I came to know about this place through a former student of mine who had a cake from Martine’s several years ago. I always remembered the cake(because it was so special!) and finally I had my very own special occasion for a very special friend who turned 70 to throw a surprise birthday party for her. I went to Martine’s with such a short notice. I knew I couldn’t have a cake completely customized, but the owner lady sat down with me and agreed to make a special cake(with what was readily available) for my dear friend. It was 2 tier cake decorated with sugar roses and baby breath and many more flowers. My friends couldn’t believe that they were fake! The cake was tasty and texture was exactly what I would have liked to have. We also had brunch while picking up the cake and the chef generously offered a complimentary small cup of tomato soup for my sweet husband who ordered their kale grilled cheese sandwich. I ordered a waffle BLT which tasted delicious and not heavy at all. We loved their new place(apparently they moved to this location recently) and atmosphere. We would love to return.

Whether you are looking for a fantastic cake, catering or a great place to meet for lunch and drinks, you’ve got to visit Martine’s Pastries! Martine and her husband Jim have been in business together for over 20 years. Their experience & passion show through everything they do. Their pastries, cookies and cakes are incredible (you gotta try the pistachio!) Consider their catering for your next event. They offer a plethora of delicious goodies including gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options! Pay them a visit on weekends for their waffle special.
