First Avenue Coffee Reviews

First Ave Coffee is founded on ethically sourced coffee and high-quality pastries. The house-made keto biscuits are savory and delicious, with an excellent variety of locally sourced pastries from places like Rind and Wheat Bakery with several vegan options too. The spacious atmosphere, art, piano, and friendly baristas has a transformative effect where you leave feeling like the world is a better place. The owners clearly understand that if you take care of the planet, you will be blessed with “damn good coffee”.

Beautiful space and friendly service. I unfortunately did not like the floral drip coffee. There was nothing wrong with it, it just wasn’t a flavor I enjoyed. I commented this to the barista and was ready to pay for a matcha latte but she said she wanted me to enjoy a drink that I liked so she made it at no charge. Wow that is so kind thank you so much! This was a wonderful visit.

I got a basic pour over; coffee was great. The sausage biscuit was lack luster and lacking flavor. The lemon coconut donut was flavorful but soaked with syrup or icing. I would definitely return for coffee.

I went to treat my neighbor to a coffee and Pastry for myself. Neighbor joined me there to treat me to a Pastry. The guy in line before us “Rick” treated both neighbor and me. “Paying It Forward”. Thank you. Delicious Raspberry-Pistachio Donut. Curt enjoyed a coffee pour over. The best relaxed moments of my day!

If you like coffee, real coffee, this place is going to satisfy your craving. The coffee is high quality and not over roasted, letting all the complex flavors and aromas shine. They grind beans fresh for your order, and individually drip straight into your cup. If you have ever been to Philz in California, this place is going to be reminiscent.

Update after a second visit:. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. I have been roasting my own coffee beans for years and understand what it takes to make a great cup of coffee. These guys nailed it. I tried a different bean today and it was even better than the last.

Exceptional Customer Service: I came in, got a drink, didn’t much care for it so I only drank a little and left. Come in a couple days later. Barista not only remembered me, but remembered the drink I had last I asked me why I didn’t drink much of it. He offered me another drink on the house and asked for feedback. Rarely have I seen a coffee shop care this much about the quality of their drinks. Always finding ways for improvement. Love the atmosphere, really enjoy the music events they put on.

Best espresso in Spokane! Coffee tonic was fun, House & Peru espressos were flavorful and rich. Seltzer and shortbread biscuits were a quality touch.

Great open, modern atmosphere and decor. Unique drink options. Jake and Peter were rockstars! Very knowledgeable in their craft.

First Avenue Coffee is beautifully designed and my ice coffee was so good.

Having this lovely coffee next to my office downtown has been the best treat on those long hard days. Sometimes I even grab a breakfast treat too, I commented to my coworker to day that the bar I got was so good it tasted like it came from my grandma’s kitchen. The staff are also a delight every time I am in, I no longer get coffee anywhere else as it feels like a betrayal to the baristas’ here that worked so hard to form good customer relations. (Sorry Ryan, that I got McDonalds coffee the other day, it wasn’t worth it. Please forgive me)

Pricy but worth it & organic! Try the Couper! They offer innovative drinks that left an impression on me. The main seasonal drinks are more like coffee cocktails, but they offer classic coffee drinks as well. I appreciate the vegan offerings although I’m not a pastry person.
