Delicious Donuts Reviews

The donuts here were delicious. We tried 3 donut places while in Portland, here as well as Blue Star and Voodoo. I would rate this and Voodoo about equal as far as taste and creativeness, both substantially better than Blue Star. The pop tart and fruity pebbles donuts here were SO good. Place looked a little shotty first walking in so I was skeptical, also none of the donuts are labeled so you have to inquire about the flavors, but the (owner?) was extremely kind and helpful. Would definitely go back !

Amazing donuts! Very affordable breakfast good value! So good we came here every day of our trip and got donuts here over v**d** . Bagels are great too! And the service is great. Family owned as well 🙂

Family owned shop that takes great pride in their product. This review is for the Apple Fritter only: 4.5 Stars

First glance through the glass you notice the evenly darkened and crisp edges of this moderately sized fritter. Each one was well proportioned to the next, hats off for the standardization, as all are created equal. I believe there are 4 key components of a fritter and Delicious Donuts practically nails them all.

Price: As of this writing $2.50, for a large city where prices are generally higher, this is a steal compared to the competitors Blue Star and Voodoo with their +$4.00 over priced ones. 5 Stars

Presentation: Glistening dark brown glaze, above average size with a perfect crisp edge for that slight crunch effect paired with that tasty greasy nugget that tears off in the bite size morsel. 5 Stars

Product: As far as I can tell they use a specific glaze seasoned with apples and perhaps a hint of cinnamon, a step above most shops. At first tear you will notice quality ingredients with nice portions of tasty apple chunks equally distributed throughout. There is a stratification of crispy glazed shell, soft moist gooey layer typically where the apples are, and an almost cake like center. If there would be one negative (personal preference) this gooey layer would continue through to the center of the fritter…this is no easy feat. In all, the cake like center works well and absorbs the milk just fine. 4.5 Stars

Poundage: Although the size is hardy the donut is not a true gut bomb. It’s deceivingly light when compared to the appearance. It’s not an overly gnarled; craggily fritter which those bumps are loaded with extra grease, and the absence of the gooey center all subtract from the overall weight and extra goodness. 4.5 Stars

Overall a true winner in the fritter category, and if this is your go to donut its worth the visit. Don’t buy into the hype of Blue Star and Voodoo, hit this family run gem instead you won’t regret it.

Go get yourself a pride donut… So many other donut options too! I really enjoyed the old fashioned maple too. Very reasonable priced for Portland!

If you need more encouragement than the fact that their doughnuts are delicious.. know that their owners are AMAZING (and so is the breakfast!) and they go out of their way to make every customer feel like a friend. Parking situation can be tough when its busy but fully worth a visit!

Literally the best breakfast/donut place! Not only did they have the greatest donuts, they were also so kind and just amazing people! Plus they have great coffee! This is a must see place in Portland! Love love LOVE!

The perfect breakfast.

I had the grilled cheese with sausage and added a hash brown. I didn’t expect the hash brown to be on the sandwich, but wow. Amazing.

Donuts look delicious too. I’m taking one to go.

Drinks are hot, service is fast. I wish I was a local. Half the customers haven’t had to place an order. They just know.

How have I not reviewed DD all these years?! Absolutely love this shop and their donuts. Penny, Boun, and their employees are the friendliest people. It’s a mom and pop shop with classic donuts (best Apple Fritter!) and then new ones that are spectacular (that PB&J is chef’s kiss) and crazy delicious (all the Ube ones and the Hibiscus Tea). Years ago I also discovered their Grand Ave Breakfast Burger which is insanely good. Don’t tell your doctor about it. Lastly, I love ordering special event donuts. Penny will make your donut dreams come true, from birthday and anniversary donuts for a crowd, to sweet (or sexy) messages for that special someone.

The donuts are seriously so delicious, and the other breakfast options are incredible. I could of gotten a breakfast sandwich from Starbucks right up the road (frozen to heat it) or a fresh cooked one by Penny! Seriously amazing I hope they stay in business as long as I’m alive because I wanna be eating here when I’m 90.
