Butter Love Bakeshop Reviews

If you’re ever in the Outer Richmond, be sure to stop in here for some lovely, delicious baked goods. I stop in here probably 1-2 times a week it’s that good. The shop is so cute, their menu (and specials) vary, and the prices are super fair. It’s hard not to buy 1 (or 2) of everything anytime I stop in.

I dropped by one morning as the window display was too enticing. There were already two clients in front of me but worth the wait. Ordered a apple fritter which was delicious with the dough chewier than I am accustomed to. The jasmine tea paired perfectly and while I waited for it, they suggested I sit in the patio since the bench was occupied. Since there is only one person in the front, it took a while and despite a slight mixup with the change, I returned again this morning. I had a bread pudding which was crusty outside and chewy inside along with a little surprise on the bottom. Love their outdoor patio which is large with wooden benches and chairs but I do wish the prices are on the display so clients can prepare in advance if paying in cash and that it was more organized.

Oh wow what a hidden gem! I though this is a pie shop and didn’t really take notice but when I passed by one morning I saw their pastries from their window and was immediately intrigued. Their croissants look legit. And guess what, they taste legit too! I had a ham and cheese croissant and absolutely devoured it because it was so good. Excellent layers with a rich, savory flavor. The chocolate scone was pretty good too.

Butter Love has quality pastries at fantastic prices, and I definitely look forward to coming back whenever I’m in the area (or even make a detour)!

Whether or not this place has the best croissants in the city (possibly? but certainly gives Arsicault a run for their money) is not the point.

The point is if you want a shatteringly crispy croissant with airy layers that taste like cold sticks of butter like the ones in Paris (and Copenhagen and London) and not the sad floppy horns that are the norm in the US, you’ll find them at Butter Love. You’ll also find a line that’s 1/20 shorter than Arsicault. Plus a really, really, really good chocolate croissant.

I stop by here almost every weekend to pick up something delicious. An always rotating variety of pastries and other tasty butter based treats. Their galettes are some of my favorite

Wanted to love them but can only muster a meh. Cowboy cookie was yum. Other items didn’t wow us. Maybe it was because it was the end of day. Will try them again if we are in the area.

Really awesome bakery – brought a variety to a father’s day lunch and everyone loved it. I especially have to call out the ham & cheese – so crispy and tasty. The chocolate muffins, Nutella donut and strawberry/apricot mini pie were all so good. Can’t go wrong!

Cute little neighborhood bakery with exceptionally bad coffee. I think it’s forgivable considering the quality of their baked goods though.

We got a whole banquet of stuff that I won’t even get into. The highlights were definitely the pumpkin loaf, ube cupee(?), and the cookies. We did also get a ham and cheese something or another that was pretty disappointing – for the most part it was just dense, wet pastry that managed not to taste like anything at all. We showed up at 2pm and a lot of the items that looked good were sold out by the time we got there.

Overall pretty good, and nothing was terrible by any means… except for the coffee. I can’t stress how bad that coffee is. Don’t get the coffee.

Great pastries make it one of my favorite places in the city, but the décor needs some work to match how nice the food is.

Everything about the pastries was amazing. Literally wanted to try everything as it all looked so good. We did try the ham and cheese croissant (perfect), chocolate croissant (good but no Arsicault!), Kahlua chocolate bread pudding (good), and peach muffin crumble pie (delicious). Everything was great value as well.

They could spruce up the décor a bit. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt and say the tables inside and rustic chic rather than just old, but the outdoor area at the back is in dire need of a clean up, and the bathroom need some sprucing. If they gave it a bit of attention it would make a huge difference to the overall ambience of the place.

Butter Love Bakeshop is a wonderful charming small neighborhood bakeshop! That offers real life deliciousness in forms of baked goods.

This bakery is small but don’t let its size fool you… Small things pack a lot taste!

My recommendations would be to buy their chocolate chip cookies which are perfectly cooked. Also The chcicken pot pies ,scones and rotating menu helps spice things up.

Last take a picture with the butter measurements on the wall. This is the first ever scale too see how much butter you really are?! : )
