A Baker’s Wife’s Pastry Shop Reviews

Got some cookies, bars and mini cheesecake for a party. Everything was delicious and eaten up so quick! Favorites were the chocolate chip cookies (huge), lemon bars and butter bars. They recently added ice cream to their menu! Staff were friendly and fast even though they were very busy. We will be back!!

I got an Apple Cream Cheese Danish, Raised Glazed Donut, Mankato Butter Bar, Tea Cake, Cinnamon Roll and Maple Pecan Danish. Everything tasted just as good as they looked but the Butter Bar really surprised me the most. I also really liked the Cinnamon Roll too, they put cream cheese in it which is very different!

The place has wonderful pastries and cakes. I just tried their fruit tarts and it was delightful. And they have the princess torte in green marzipan which definitely makes me feel like I’m in Sweden once again. The cake itself it very fluffy and light, and doesn’t feel heavy at all.

This shop was super cute, and the staff was really nice. I thought all the desserts looked really good. I didn’t care for the salted caramel or dark chocolate cupcake, the snickerdoodle, the triple chocolate, or peanut butter chocolate cookies. I REALLY liked the tea cookie, and the oatmeal cookie.

Great set cakes, cupcakes. Oh and amazing donuts, one of the best and few donut places in Minneapolis. Check it out when in the vicinity!

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. That means I hate that I love this place as much as I do! I happen to love donuts and danish. I stopped on a whim on my way out of town and grabbed a few items. The standout – the simple cake donut with chocolate frosting – no sprinkles.
I cannot do justice to how amazing these are. They’re fresh so there is a bit of a crisp to the outside of the donut. The inside has a delicate texture and tastes amazing. I cannot describe what happens when the chocolate frosting begins to melt on your tongue. This is THE place for the world-class cake donut with chocolate frosting. So simplistic yet that’s why it works. It’s not trying to be anything else but what it is.

A great selection of bread, donuts and bakery noms. Their breakfast croissants are fantastic, but sell out.
Prices are a little high, but what isn’t these days. Expect to wait 2 to 5 minutes because there is always a line. It seems like they don’t have the same items everyday so show up and then decide.

We try to make a stop here every time we visit the twin cities – and judging by the amount of folks we always see walking in and out, that’s for good reason. I’m confident that everything they have on their menu is delicious, but always have stuck with a tried and true staple – the American tea cake. Enjoy it with or without tea, right out of the bag or heated in the oven, with your hands or utensils. It’s all good. You won’t regret the buttery, sticky, sweet goodness that is the ATC (American tea cake, as the aficionados call it)

We had cakes and some drinks on a Saturday evening. The service was good. The cake slices we had definitely didn’t taste good. The velvet cake had a weird truffle oil like smell to it that didn’t really work. The chocolate cake was so hard, it felt like eating bar candy.
Maybe their whole fresh cakes taste good. But I wouldn’t recommend their cake slices off the counter. We were disappointed.

I have been there on two separate occasions this summer where some of the most “famous” items (tea cakes) were not in the case. Both times I was told they were still baking. When asked what time I could plan on arriving to have access to ALL the things, I was told that it was “just random” and “to try back later.” I wasn’t the first one in the door either day, we were an hour plus into operating hours.

I bought some other stuff since there weren’t any tea cakes, and some of it was very clearly day-old (days?). This place used to be so amazing, now I am just gonna hit the grocery store for equal quality items.
